The LORD Will Be Israel’s Shepherd
A psalm to praise and sing to God, out loud.
The LORD Will Be Israel’s Shepherd
Oh LORD send down Your Rains in the springtime,
Just as You have said:
“I will send down showers in season;
there will be showers of blessing.”
There will be showers of blessing, oh yes!
Falling upon the land and Your Flock
No more will they remain strayed and lost
You will gather them up,
Your Sheep whom You love
Oh Your Rains are refreshing
And in every way restoring
The flowers in the field, full of dew, bow to You
The blades of grass glisten from Your Glory-filled rain
The sparrow dips her wings into an overflowing stream
Oh LORD send down Your Rains in the springtime,
Just as You have said:
“I will send down showers in season;
there will be showers of blessing.”
There will be showers of blessing, oh yes!
You will gather up Your Sheep
And give them a land blessed by Your Hand
You will give them good pasture
In the protected mountains of Israel
Where they can lie down and sleep in peace
Free from savage beasts
You will place Your Servant David
In charge of them night and day
The LORD will be Israel’s Shepherd
Oh LORD send down Your Rains in the springtime,
Just as You have said:
“I will send down showers in season;
there will be showers of blessing.”
There will be showers of blessing, oh yes!
Such a good, good land You give Your Sheep
The trees will yield their fruit
The ground will yield its crops
The people will be secure in their land
They shall lack nothing
They will know that it is You,
The LORD their God, who is with them—
That they are Your Sheep of Your Pasture
So they will be encouraged and prosper
Oh LORD send down Your Rains in the springtime,
Just as You have said:
“I will send down showers in season;
there will be showers of blessing.”
There will be showers of blessing, oh yes!
Oh The LORD will be Israel’s Shepherd:
“You are My Sheep,
The sheep of My Pasture.
And I am your God.”
“In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Psalm 4:8
“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.” Isaiah 40:11
Ezekiel 34:1-31
