The Lifeline for Deadlines
There are times of need; when the need is urgent and help is needed desperately. Many have deadlines to beat, marks to attain and targets to meet. God assures us of His enduring help and ever abiding presence, in our times of need. This is so comforting to know that even when it looks like there is no way out, when it seems like you have hit a dead end, it is not yet over; God’s help is assured. The bible says; “For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
To leave you, means to disappear from you, however to forsake you has a deeper meaning. To forsake you means to desert you in your time of need. This is when someone with the ability to help you, leaves you so that you are not helped! Put this in context of the scripture, God says; ‘I will not desert you in your time of need, nor withhold help from you when you need it’. Hallelujah!! This drives out fear of failure, fear of being left alone without any help. If you have a deadline, God has given you a lifeline; ‘I will not leave you nor forsake you’, even when you have few hours to go!
It doesn’t matter the gravity of your need, God says; “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” Psalms 50:15. He is with you and in you, ready to help at any turn of life. This should inspire confidence and the ability to turn to Him at all times both in small and big issues of life. Those times when you feel like you are between a rock and a hard place; He is with you. He is not a silent listener or an uninterested spectator in the affairs of your life that would be forsaking you; He is there to help you. When talking about the Holy Spirit, Jesus called Him ‘Another Helper’ to be with you and in you (John 14:16). God is letting us know that we have all the help that we will ever need. Yes, we are in an imperfect world, with lots of pressures, unrealistic expectations and demands, but we have the greatest Helper.
To take advantage of this help, we need to engage the Helper. Many people live with an erroneous thinking that somehow people will find out that they need help, so they never engage those who should offer help. This is not the way it should be, even God lets us know that we should call upon Him, ask Him and solicit for His help. God in His omniscience knows everything about us and our situations, but He needs our partnership that is why He requires us to engage Him for our help. God’s nature is not to withhold help from those who need it, He does not do what He told us not to do; ‘Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. If you can help your neighbor now, don’t say, “Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you.” Proverbs 3:27-28 NLT. This is enough to assure us that God will not defer us; He is never late and never early, He is right on time. The psalmist said of Him; “For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, Blessed is the man who trusts in You!” Psalms 84:11-12. Walk in this knowledge and always see the lifeline of God’s help amidst the deadlines of this world.
