The Hour and the Power of Darkness
The Chapter Entitled, the Evil Day, the Hour and the Power of Darkness
The “Son of Man” — as The LORD Jesus Christ described Himself — said these words to Peter, when he stood to fight back, cutting off the ear of one of the servants of the high priest when they came to arrest him.
“Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?” Matthew 26:53-54.
One greatly revered amongst the Angelic community and the hosts of heaven, walked amongst men, yet met with ridicule, scorn, and accusations — yet didn’t bat an eyelid, because He knew His true worth in the measures of honor.
Moments before that episode; The LORD spoke in confidence with His disciples saying;
“Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in Me.” John 14:30.
When the moment came, and He was surrounded…
“Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves? When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.” Luke 22:52-53.
The Apostle Paul recognizing there is a reality called the “evil day” in the life of those called. He wrote…
“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand,” Ephesians 6:13.
The Scriptures reveal the story of Job and the season of life when “the evil day, the hour and power of darkness showed up!”
“And The LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of The LORD” Job 1:12.
Written in the volume of the books concerning you, may be a page or a chapter entitled; “The Evil Day, The Power and Hour of Darkness.”
This is the hour when Satan could be granted leave and permission to put you on the trials of your life and destiny.
Before this time of life shows up in anyone’s life; The Kingdom gives everyone ample time and opportunity to be trained and raised up strong in preparation for that moment.
Hence The LORD Jesus Christ declared…
“Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in Me.” John 14:30]
The Apostle Paul admonished,
“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand,” Ephesians 6:13.
The LORD, in writing to the Philadelphia Church spoke about the “Hour of Trial that would come upon the whole world.”
“Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.” Revelation 3:10.
To the Church in Smyrna; The LORD Jesus Christ wrote;
“I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Revelations 2:9-10.
It’s so beautiful how we love to preach about the season of manifestation.
Those who recognize the seasons of their lives, and do well to be prepared, will indeed prevail and bear a good testimony in the season when the “evil day, hour and the power of darkness” arrive.
“Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God” Acts 14:22.
