The Horseman of Misinformation
The Fifth Horseman of the Modern Apocalypse
“Then I saw when The Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say with a voice like thunder, “Come!” I looked, and behold, there was a white horse. The one riding on it had a bow, and a crown was given to him. He went out as a conqueror so he might conquer.
When The Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come!” Then another horse came out, fiery red. The one riding on it was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that people would slaughter one another. He was given a great sword.
When The Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come!” And behold, I saw a black horse. The one riding on it held a balance scale in his hand. Then I heard something like a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius — but do no harm to the oil and wine!”
When The Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the fourth living creature saying, “Come!” Behold, I saw a horse, pale greenish gray. The name of the one riding on it was Death, and Sheol was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill by sword and by famine and by plague and by the wild beasts of the earth.” Revelation. 6:1-8.
We have The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse as outlined in Revelation 6.
Each of these four horsemen represents a different destructive force. One being the aspect of Conquering, War, Pestilence, and Death.
These are the major elements identified in the scripture above.
However, the current issue of misinformation can be just as destructive as some of the other apocalyptic themes.
When misinformation ensues, it can endanger all aspects of society. Lies and deceit can prevent people from finding safety amidst the chaos.
An antidote to cure a disease may be said to be false, and then the innocent are doomed to die.
Of course, much of the misinformation involves political figures as well as the issues surrounding the content of their messages.
One lie can begat another lie and eventually it becomes a web of uncertainty and confusion. But with discernment and wisdom, one can see through the mist and find clarity.
There have always been facts that have been indisputable, and yet even now, those things that any of us would say are true and factual, are in danger of being labeled as questionable.
There should be no denying that gravity is a real force and that all of the planets revolve around the sun.
But several centuries ago, many believed that the earth was the center of the universe. Those who disputed this fact were labeled as heretics.
Eventually Copernicus in the 15th century, determined that it was rather the sun and not the earth, that was the center.
It is said that Satan is the father of lies (John 8:44), and when his lies are believed, then even obvious facts can become questioned by some.
When you read or listen to something that seems questionable or conspiratorial, ask yourself if it seems to be false or a lie.
Check it out and do your research. You may well have turned over a rock and exposed all of the hideous things that are underneath it.
