The Grenade of Gossip or The Power of Prayer?
The LORD had dealt with me for several days to share this and I felt it needed released. I cannot contain it!
The tongue, that unruly restless poison that no man can tame. Where only a few drops can assassinate someone with merely your words.
Going into a sanctuary and listening to the preaching and singing is not the church He speaks of.
We are the Church, the Bride of Christ called to do even more that sit in pews.
Now don’t get me wrong, worship and the sermons are awesome, but there is so much more He wants us to do when we walk outside those church doors.
How are you treating the ones broken in addiction or depression?
Are you standing in judgment of this marriage over here, failing, or perhaps the prodigal son of a family member you continuously talk about, rather than getting on your knees and crying out to God for them?
Are you releasing the grenade of gossip rather than the power of prayer?
As it reads in Psalms 141:3, “Set a guard O LORD over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!”
God has given us two ears, but one tongue, to show that we should be swift to hear, but slow to speak.
God has set that double fence before the tongue, our teeth and lips to teach us to be wary not to offend with the tongue.
Don’t be that “Nosey Nelly” or “Prying Peter!” Be the SALT and LIGHT you were called to be by the Most High!
Let our conversations be seasoned always with His Love and Grace as we reach out, to such a broken world that so desperately needs Him!
We need to be good at sharing the Gospel and Grace, not the gossip! Engage the mind before you engage your mouth!
I felt this in such a mighty way to share. I have seen and heard lately the tongues of so many believers dashing to pieces the broken ones, the ones sitting in a cage of depression erected by the enemy.
“They don’t dress right…. they don’t look right…. they have too may tattoos so they probably been in jail…. or they probably end up there!”
The ones in a battle for their lives with addiction and all you hear is talk of all the wrong and how hopeless they are.
They are judged and shunned by the very ones Jesus has called them to love and reach out to.
The very ones that He wants to take his light into the midst of their darkness and break the chains.
Did Jesus shun the blind man screaming for him at the top of his lungs?
Did he look down in judgment in the woman taken in adultery?
Did he talk about all the wrong this one over here in the dark corner did and how he was hopeless?
Absolutely not!
He came to seek and save the lost, the broken, the hurting, the addicted and bound.
He is the Healer and Deliverer, the same yesterday, today and forever!
He saved us from ourselves. He did not come for the saved and sanctified, already on their way up to Heaven.
He came for the lost. He came for each of us and saved us from ourselves. We all have walked a hard and difficult road with each story different, but the one thing that remains is Jesus walked in the midst of our mess and changed everything including us.
He continues to transform us daily!
I ask the LORD to always help me guard my mouth as each of us do. Instead of trying talk about all that is wrong with this one you deem hopeless, get down on your knees and sincerely pray.
Come on Church and be that Light in the midst of that darkness.
Shine His reflection to those deemed unlovable, different, addict, or rebel. Be his hands reaching out.
Pray for them rather than tear them down. Your words can either build or tear down. As for me, I choose to build up and speak the truth in love.
You don’t know their battle, you don’t know what they feel inside, you judge by only what you may see on the outside, but within they are crying out for more, they cry out for change, they cry out for help and just a glimmer of hope in this darkness closing in on them.
You may not know a lot of things, but there is One that you do know that knows all about them. He is the only One whom you should talk to about them and watch him turn it around.
In life, a fog may set in and the direction for some seems unclear.
Spend more time praying for them instead of talking about them and you will see better results!
One can put a thousand to flight, but two can put ten thousand to flight!
