Prayer watches: the Fourth Watch (between 3:00 a.m.- 6:00 a.m.)

I heard from precious prayer warriors asking about prayer watches. I have an entire teaching on the subject, but for the sake of brevity I am going to share some information on the significance of the 4^th watch.

Times when we pray can be strategic and powerful when we don’t become fanatical or religious about what we do. But patterns are biblical and carry much significance. People who strongly operate within a culture of prayer and find prayer to be second nature, may be called to become an intercessor or even a watchman.

It is possible that you may be called to any area of ministry and just be a person who realizes the importance of prayer. Let me qualify this by saying that anyone can pray a fervent prayer at any time of the day or night with great power and demonstration. And they can see great manifestation with signs and wonders. We will see many things happen this year on that wise because we are praying in a tipping point season of time.

The fourth watch in the guide that I follow is measured by eight time divisions each carrying a span of three hours for each time division. Certain events and miracles were recorded as they occurred during a specific time of the day. Some are quite detailed and others might be a bit vague but according to scribes and historians certain details were ascertained.

Some time zones will vary according to what part of the country and where you are located. However the beautiful thing is where prayer might begin in one region the prayer maybe ending in another region. So no matter where you are located, if you are actively engaged in prayer it is always effective in its purpose. So that a symphony of prayer is created.

So here goes:

This particular watch deals with deliverance.

It is a time to actively advance upon the enemy’s camp in strategic spiritual warfare. So praying that the enemies devices will not prosper but fail and that the plans formed would be uncovered is essential.

Releasing the word of God over demonic forces (spiritual wickedness in high places) can be quite effective. Also being able to pray for proper discernment as to what kind of spirit is in operation concerning a matter can be detected and exposed and can be helpful in a complex matter.

These kinds of prayers have been effective in understanding attacks upon Israel or other nations by assigned watchmen who have been set over regions.

Because this time occurs before day breaks. One can pray into the day to speak life, goodness, wisdom and protection prior to the day beginning. Also to pray for daily provision.

Jacob’s encounter with the angel went on until the breaking of day. Which makes it an excellent time to pray into God’s spiritual blessings, maturity and increase. Prayers to walk in humility and servant-hood can be effective also.

Prayers to obtain spiritual discipline and the deliverance from the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. Prayers to carry the overcoming anointing against the works of the flesh.

It is said that Jesus walked upon the waters (Matthew 14:25). When revelation is obtained from God’s word along with the power to pray, it provides astounding results.

There is more but this is an example what great apostolic-prophetic strategies that can be obtained and released. Prayers can be decreed concerning righteous leadership and nations requesting that the Lord reveal light and understanding concerning hidden elements required to make difficult decisions.

I could go on and on. . . . . there is so much on this subject. I pray this helps you. If you wake up often and can’t go back to sleep it is usually an indication of your possible assigned prayer time or watch.

Remember these are only guides and they are not etched in stone. Remember we do not pray against people, but we deal with the spirits operating in them. There is a distinct difference. We don’t pray against people’s wills or minds, which is preying and not praying.

As a watchman/ intercessor, we must be accountable to pray with Godly integrity.
