Prayer Watches: The First Watch (6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.)

The first watch has to do with “Time to silence the enemy.”

It is an excellent time to cancel all word curses (devouring mouths) of the enemy that would speak against the plans and purposes of the Lord according to Isaiah 54:17.

Pray to shut down the demonic gatekeepers that would try to fleshly control, manipulate and try to hinder God’s purpose and plans. Pray over leadership to ward off Jezebelic forces. Pray to deal with the spirit of divination that desires to fight and hinder Apostolic prayer.

Time to seize and lay hold of the gates of the city, in which the enemy might try to control in a region. (I am talking about the principalities over an area. It is better to confront these issues in corporate prayer with others who are mature in the faith and who have been interceding for some time.)

This is usually a time when churches are gathered together in prayer groups that are praying prior to mid-week services, which can intensify the impact during this prayer time. Pray also into possessing the gates of the coming day.

This is a great time to release the blessings of God upon his people, even removing the spirit of heaviness and praying to shift the atmosphere of a service. This a time to pray for the covenant of the Lord to be renewed and firmly established as this was the time when Jesus broke bread with his disciples.

Pray that the Land will yield and bear fruit of the previous seeds sown. Pray for the grace of the Lord’s ability upon the church to do what can’t be done other than by the spirit of God. (Not by might, nor by power, but by His Spirit saith the Lord).

Pray over upcoming projects that will be implemented by mandate to have it’s strongest impact upon the people – call forth great deliverance and transformation. Pray the ordained lifespan of God’s will upon His servants and come against premature death.

Pray:

Behold the Lamb of God and the Lion of the tribe of Judah who is able to break every yoke. Open up the title deeds of power, wealth, strength, wisdom, honor, glory, and blessings. (Humility unlocks the secret of his strength.) This was the time that Jesus wrapped a towel around his waist and washed his disciples’ feet.
