The Father’s Goodness
Father, before You I sit, like a weaned child
With a quiet spirit, harboring no guile
With clean hands and an earnest desire
Seeking Your Goodness, my heart’s on fire.
To walk with You, in the cool of the day
To share my life with You, this way
Like the time in the Garden, eons ago
Face-to-face with You, in Your glory’s glow.
Come teach me Your Good way, I should go
Train me up, Your Good wisdom bestow
Only You have the Good words of life
To conquer all fear, all darkness, all strife.
I rejoice in Your Goodness, My Abba, Father
Creator of All, there is no other
Who comforts me in my darkest hours
Hedging me about, with Your awesome power.
Sifted and humbled, only to You I cling
Now, I look to You, Father, for everything
There is nothing in this world to compare
With Your Goodness, Mercy, and Care.
I declare Your Goodness, so all will hear
The story of ONE, so pure and so dear
Your hand of forgiveness, extended to the world
For every man, woman, boy, and girl.
