The Dust on Your Feet!
This may well be the hardest thing you have ever been asked to do.
This is a hard Word. I weep at the thought of this!
Yet, I must be obedient to speak . . .
I recently read the passage that relates how Jesus sent His seventy-two (72) followers and disciples out.
“Now whatever city or town you enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and stay there till you go out. If the household is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. And when you go into a household, greet it. And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!” Matthew 10:11-15.
Then this morning, I once again heard The LORD say, “Shake off the dust from your feet!”
That’s odd, Lord! Twice in 24 hours?
As I was in a men’s breakfast meeting at the time, I said nothing, but having come home, I hear The LORD pursuing this with me.
He said to me, “The time is coming when many will be asked, one more time, to consider the claims of Jesus on their lives.
Sadly, many will obstinately refuse to change their position — they will not move even a single inch (2.5cm).
If, and whenever they do move, even an inch towards Me, then I will not give up on them.
If they don’t, I will expect you to ‘shake off the dust from your feet’, and leave them to their fate.”
So, Lord, why will this be the hardest thing we have ever been asked to do?
The LORD replied, with more than a little sadness in His voice, “Because many will be talking to family, their nearest and dearest, their loved ones!
This is what I meant about taking up your cross and following Me!
This is the price you must be prepared to pay!”
“Doesn’t My Word say — is it not written — “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.”” (Verse 26 from Luke 14:25-33)
Shaking the dust from our feet can be so hard.
Sometimes love is so tough it makes us weep!
Sometimes we just have to let go — and let God!
The promise is as I just said, “If, and whenever they do move, even an inch towards Me, then I will not give up on them.”
Hang on to ‘whenever’!

Amen. God is always right as far as the family issue is concerned. I want to follow Jesus no matter what. Thank you for reminding this. Thanks, Chris.
