The Discipline to be Overcomers
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death” Revelation 12:11.
I am sure that there are many of us in the body of Christ that can attest to having experienced more rejections, more hatred, more confusion and more random attacks from the enemy in very recent years than we can say we’ve ever had in our entire lifetime. Not only is there a shifting taking place in the atmosphere but there is also a sifting at work as well. A sifting simply because Satan is trying very hard to take the heart and focus of every Christian believer off of God and the Spirit of His Truth with repetitious attacks in three very sensitive areas of our lives. Those areas being: our families, our finances, and our futures.
As a result of these attacks Christians have suffered a lack of offering to God the praise of our lips. We have suffered losses in some set positions of authority and we have suffered a dwindling in the power of our anointing. Some of us have lost our joy, peace, and happiness in the Lord because we have grown weary while waiting. And let me just add that we have grown sick and tired of just being sick and tired because the adversary is attacking us greatly like never before.
We have been battling a “throw in the towel” type of attitude. We have been exercising our faith and trust in God’s unfailing Word for a spiritual breakthrough in these trying times, but God has yet to answer our prayers that we have been passionately praying long and hard for. I cannot speak for anyone else, but there have been a few times in my mind that I felt I should just give up or give in. I was spiritually weakened a bit and had allowed my personal frustrations to overtake me because things for me had not yet changed as God had promised and told me they would.
Maybe you have been feeling the same? Things have not gotten any better for you than they were 10 days ago, 10 months ago or perhaps than they were 10 years ago, so maybe (you’re thinking) God has forsaken me. If we are not mindful to put on the full armor of God, guard our hearts and minds with the Spirit of God’s Truth; we will fall prey to accepting the lies that the devil wants us to believe as the truth. Our God shall supply all of our needs according to His riches and glory in Christ Jesus but He never promised us that the road we take would be easy.
An overcomer is described in Revelation 12:11, as someone who defeats the dragon (adversary). As believers we overcome by the blood of the Lamb (Jesus Christ) and by the word of our Testimony. If we expect to overcome the lies of the enemy we must demonstrate the Truth of Christ in every facet of our lives. We must bridge the gap between what we SAY we believe and how we are actively demonstrate Christ. Daily and moment by moment we need to speak and live the word of God in every situation that concerns us. This means:
-
If you were without provision in 2012; you still believe God is the Infinite Supply of all things in 2013.
-
If your health was less than excellent in the month of January; you still believe that today God is the life of your body.
-
If all hell seems to be breaking loose in your life right now; you still declare the devil is defeated and you say that in Christ you have the victory.
I know things have gotten so dark and so rough in this economy but do you truly believe that the Christ alive in you today is more powerful than any circumstance or situation you are going through? Do you truly believe that the Christ that lives on the inside of you is more powerful than both sin and Satan itself? Surely Jesus Christ is the Lord and Saviour over all of these things.
Is it much easier for a person to believe and accept a lie than it is the truth? Most of us are no longer babes in Christ. We know that if it is a lie the first time we have heard it (from the enemy), that it is still the same lie the hundredth time we’ve heard it. Why then do we continue to wrestle and entertain in our minds the same lies the enemy tries to convince us is the truth?
I implore you today that as you patiently wait for God to move on your behalf, as you are waiting for the glory of God to manifest and transform your life and life situations that you continue to run your race with all spiritual discipline necessary to overcome the lies of the enemy; which can only be done with the Spirit of God’s Truth, which is the Testimony of Jesus Christ, which is the Word of God.
I encourage you to continue to speak life and the truth of God’s Word into your relationships, over your children, into your financial bank accounts. Speak the Word of Life into your minds, hearts and bodies. Be steadfast unmovable in your faith and you will see the salvation of the Lord. There are many rewards to the believer that overcomes (Revelation 2-3). Don’t give up. Don’t give in.
This race is not given to the swift, nor to the strong but to those that are able to endure to the very end. You have sufficiency in all things and access to the grace that God freely gives you to spiritually overcome the tests, trials and challenges of life. For you shall reap a harvest of blessings in due season, you will see fulfilment of breakthrough if you condition yourself not to faint or falter. You are victorious. “Many are the afflictions of the righteous but God delivers us from them all” Psalm 34:19.” Beloved you are an overcomer. Walk in those shoes.
