The Difference Between Faith and Hope
Today as I was on the phone with a dear friend of mine, it was as if a light bulb went off in my head as this person was speaking.
So I want to share this with the entire body, in hopes it might bring light and clarity to others who may be going through a dark and trying time in their faith right now.
Real faith is tested and it is tried in the fire.
Sometimes we get hope and faith mixed up, to be the same thing and they are not one and the same but, rather one that leads you to the other.
Hope will not make us ashamed, cause it will lead us to faith and through the accessing of that faith and patience, we can inherit the promises of God.
“Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing,” James 1:3-41.
“That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ,” Peter 1:7.
Hope – is commonly used to mean “wish for” in the strength of one’s own desire.
Hope that has its foundation in the word of God is an expectation of the faithfulness of Almighty God to do what he says in his word he will do and not what we may wish for outside of it.
We hope or wish or expect he will, but hope says it may or it may not, but we hope/wish it does.
Hope suggests it might happen, faith says it will happen. Faith patiently waits until the manifestation arrives.
Now Faith – is the substance of what we hoped for the evidence of things not seen.
It is a complete trust or confidence in someone or something. If our faith is based upon and rooted in God’s word then it is a complete trust or knowing that God cannot lie, his word cannot lie, therefore we trust he will perform what he has spoken concerning us.
The bible teaches us that it is faith and patience that causes us to inherit the promises of God not faith and hope.
Hope leads you to faith, and faith and patience leads you to the promise.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen,” Hebrews 11:1.
“That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises,” Hebrews 6:12.
Because we know him and we grow in our faith and knowing of him from glory to glory or level to level.
To know someone means to be intimately, closely acquainted, and familiar with.
There are three different levels the bible speaks of and I want to examine and expound on each of these levels.
First one, a servant, second one, a friend, and third one a son/ daughter.
The Bible teaches us that a heir as long as he is a child is no different than a SERVANT and that he is no different than a slave although he is owner or Lord of all/ everything but still he is under tutors until an appointed time if the Father.
However, when you are a FRIEND of God then you have grown enough in him and his word and faithfulness to know him on a more intimate level he now calls you friends for the Bible says a friend knoweth his Lord’s will and now a friend has a understanding to actually do the Lord’s will and walk that out in their own personal life.
It is God’s will that we prosper and be in good health even as our soul prospers. How do we know this is God’s will? Because His Word says so!
“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth,” 3 John 2.
A SON/ DAUGHTER however is different than a friend, because a Son/ daughter has now been adopted in the family he has moved from a friendly acquaintance to an inheritance because of the name change.
He now has legal covenant rights to all that the Father and heaven has.
He now has access granted through and by the blood of Christ Jesus, to boldly enter into the Throne of Grace and receive grace which is unmerited favor and mercy, which is not getting what you deserve, but enter into His Throne Room to receive whatever it is that he has need of, in any time of trouble, because he is a heir of the throne of his Father’s seat, which is the mercy seat, for he sits upon a mercy seat and the Bible says he delights in it.
A mature son/ daughter knows how to access through the blood through repentance in forsaking your sinful way and turning from the sin and this is how you obtain mercy and also showing mercy to others is the way to obtain mercy.
Here are verses that show us this is true.
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need,” Hebrews 4:16.
“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper, but whosoever confesseth and forsaketh them shall find mercy,” Proverbs 28:13.
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall be shown mercy,” Matthew 5:7.
“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,” 1 John 3:1-11.
A true son/ daughter knows that they have access to all the fathers house that has many rooms in it, not just the throne room.
God is allowing our faith to be tested and tried in the fire to bring us into the place he alone has prepared for us.
He said in His Word, that in His Father’s house are many mansions/ rooms and if it were not so, He would not have told you.
He said He went to prepare this place for us, that where He was, there we may be also and If He go then He will come again and receive us unto Himself and we will be His sons and daughters.
“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also,” John 14:2-3.
It is the Kingdom that we receive not build. We must enter into it by faith. The Kingdom of God coming to earth as it is in heaven is all that heaven has afforded to us to made manifest in this earthen realm, that is what we are here for.
To show forth the praises of God who has brought us out of darkness into His marvelous light of His Truth/ Kingdom of righteousness, joy and peace in the Holy Ghost and what he has already provided for us through Jesus’s death, burial, and resurrection and how we are to access and manifest it here in the now even as it is in heaven.
“Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear,” Hebrews 12:28.
It is by the blood through faith and patience that this is accomplished his will within us to manifest outwardly to others as we bring heaven to earth.
Healing is the children’s bread it is a part of your God given inheritance! Hold fast to the profession of your faith and do not waiver and you will see the results that only real truth faith can bring.
Remember if you never had a problem you would never know God could solve them and once you know him do not ever doubt his love and ability to get you to the healing and whatever else it is you have need of in order for you to walk out and fulfill his call of abundant life he provided for you and I.
Stay in faith and faith will produce heavens results!
“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised,” Hebrews 10:23.
