The Costly Anointing
Every believer desires to have a ministry of miracles, signs and wonders.
I remember how I wanted to have a supernatural ministry when I first accepted Jesus into my heart in 1984, and was filled with The Holy Spirit a few weeks later.
I attended a meeting with a minister named Elizabeth Austin who was originally from the USA but was called to start a ministry in South Africa.
She was a prophetess who had a genuine miracle ministry. When she laid hands on me to pray, the anointing was so intense that I could believe for anything.
She was a woman of radical faith and taught us when to rest and when to war. She taught about the importance of prayer and studying the word of God. She also taught me the significance and power of praying in tongues.
I remember having several visions during her meetings. One vision that I had was of Jesus hands. I didn’t see His face but just his white robe and His hands reaching out.
A few days later I went into a Christian bookstore and there was a painting on the wall of that picture that I saw in my vision. It was titled “Come Unto Me”. I told Connie (who was the owner of the store) about my vision.
While I was telling her, we felt the presence of God in such a tangible way. Now this may sound extreme but the painting actually fell off the wall as we were speaking.
We didn’t understand it, but she said, “Oh it was meant for you”. I still have that picture on my wall today.
Jesus was giving me a taste of what was to come. He is a supernatural God and desires to give us encounters such as this more often so that we could teach others how to enter into His presence and hear His voice.
Elizabeth told stories about her adventures with The LORD. One time she was taking a drive and listening to worship music in her new convertible on a beautiful sunny day when suddenly The Holy Spirit told her to go back home and pray.
She explained that when we are called to a higher level, The LORD will require so much more of us.
I didn’t understand that at the time, but it took many years for me to find out that there truly is a price for that costly anointing.
Just as Kathryn Kuhlman once said, “It will cost you everything but it’s worth it”. If we want to be used in miracles, signs and wonders we must pay the price.
God is not a task master and He will never violate your will, but to whom much is given, much is required.
Jesus will require a deeper intimacy and He will require us to walk in another level of holiness. As you grow, you will encounter a higher level of warfare, but He will give you the wisdom to the strategies of the enemy.
He will show you the game plan to overcome every plot set against you. The LORD wants radical believers who gives no place to the devil.
As I am writing this, The Holy Spirit is showing me that A New Wine Skin is required to carry the new wine.
Jesus said; you can’t put an old patch on a new garment or it will tear and destroy the wine skin. New wine must be poured into new wine skins.
The crushing of the grapes is a stage that you go through to produce the new wine. The wine skin also preserves the wine.
This is the season of the new wine outpouring and The LORD is looking for those who He could trust with His anointing.
There are some people as well as also some Churches who are running out of wine and Jesus is going to come as He did in the wedding at Cana and turn the water into wine.
The Pharisees paradigm and way of living will not accept this new wine but those who are mature will be able to receive in abundance.
Your gift will make room for you but to whom much is given, much is required. Jesus has awesome plans for us in the days ahead and He is asking us: “Will you pay the price for that costly anointing?”
“Then He spoke a parable to them: “No one puts a piece from a new garment on an old one; otherwise the new makes a tear, and also the piece that was taken out of the new does not match the old. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved. And no one, having drunk old wine, immediately desires new; for he says, ‘The old is better,’ ” Luke 5:36-39.
“For those who have received a greater revelation from their master are required a greater obedience. And those who have been entrusted with great responsibility will be held more responsible to their master,” Luke 12:48b (TPT).
“Someone living on an entirely human level rejects the revelations of God’s Spirit, for they make no sense to him. He can’t understand the revelations of the Spirit because they are only discovered by the illumination of the Spirit. Those who live in the Spirit are able to carefully evaluate all things, and they are subject to the scrutiny of no one but God,” 1 Corinthians 2:14-15 (TPT).
