The Children’s Bread & The Overcomer’s Hidden Manna
The Children’s Bread:
Healing, in The Body of Christ, is the Children’s bread!
The Body needs bread to live and the bread is healing!
Well here’s the outcome for Faith :
Less becomes More than enough!
Crumbs become complete portion = Completion
It signals a message of reward for deep Faith and Persistence of people seeking God to move anyway anyhow !
“A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.”
Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.” Matthew 15:21-23.
The word “Canaanite”symbolises “Carnality”.
Strong’s H3669 : Canaan : Κανανίτης : zealous; Canaanites
Canaan represents children of the flesh !
God’s severe commands regarding the Canaanites :
In the beginning, though Canaan was the promised land; The LORD’s command to the Israelites were to drive away the Canaanites and occupy the land so as to not take part in their sins.
“Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked and told his two brothers outside. But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father’s naked body. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father naked.
When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, he said, “Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers.”
He also said, “Praise be to The LORD, the God of Shem! May Canaan be the slave of Shem. May God extend Japheth’s territory; may Japheth live in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be the slave of Japheth.” Genesis 9:22-27.
“want you to swear by The LORD, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living,” Genesis 24:3.
“God commanded the Israelites, “In the cities of the nations The LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. Completely destroy them — the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites — as The LORD your God has commanded you.” Deuteronomy 20:16-17.
“The Israelites ate manna forty years, until they came to a land that was settled; they ate manna until they reached the border of Canaan.” Exodus 16:35.
“He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”” Matthew 15:24.
Canaan was considered hostile to Israel. This is symbolic of Jesus addressing the Canaanite woman as hostile to the children of Israel according to this passage, however only sufficient to bring out the contradictory nature of the disciples and embracing the Canaanite woman for her outstanding faith .
The Children’s Bread & A Clear Negotiation :
God enjoys reserving a special portion called the Children’s Bread.
Israel (the Children) had bread from Heaven only in the wilderness, at the border of Canaan the promised land it stops!
Here’s Jesus’ response to the Canaanite woman;
“He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”“ Matthew 15:26.
The Canaanite woman was faced with a statement from God, as she sought the healing for her daughter which could have been to her a setback -hurt and disappointment.
However, He does this to show that even the Canaanites who have been hostile, have been embraced in His ministry, as He saw a difference in this Canaanite woman.
A difference by virtue of her Faith!
The Unlimited Line :
“Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” Matthew 15: 27.
She insisted on the crumbs, at the least, which was a persistent approach.
What a mighty Faith expressed by this woman!
Jesus loves to stretch the muscles of Faith in us and by doing so rewards us!
In this context we see how the women’s response to Jesus’ statement was stretched beyond the line of any obstacle that could limit her as a “Canaanite .“
The Line placed before her was only to stretch her Faith and raise the bar!
From a “No” to a Resounding “Yes”!
Jesus’ Words to the woman were not Words of rebuke or condemnation but a statement of pure instillation of deeper hunger at-least for the crumbs!
Thereby, she tore apart the veil of mindsets and cultural barriers through her faith.
Her response challenged the disciples who kept shunning her away from Jesus !
His statement was indeed an extended rope to the woman which she held on to publicly display her Faith and dispel the dark veil in the minds of the disciples.
“He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—” John 1:11-12.
Jesus’ body : The Bread of Life Broken for Many
“For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world…..
….. Then Jesus declared, “I AM the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty……
…… All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.” John 6:33,35,37.
“So Jesus said to them, ‘Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink.”” John 6:51-53.
Glory to God for sending his son Jesus Christ; The Bread of life- Anyone who eats the bread of life has life eternal. God is no respecter of persons.
“This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” John 6:58.
Jesus’ statement cuts asunder the barriers of mind and she grasped the healing for her daughter!
Jesus responded to the woman!!
“Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment.”” Matthew 15:28.
According to this Word, she is a legal heir to the promise of God’s healing!
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:28-29.
The Overcomers :
This goes further on, an even greater portion, a specific measure as a reminder of a timely provision for the Israelites “The Hidden Manna” from heaven treasured forever in the ark of the covenant.
The Children of God (Israel) ate it in the past now it is available to each one who overcomes .
The overcomers are those who have the right to eat the Children’s bread preserved in the ark of the Covenant ;
“Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.” Revelation 2:17.
There’s a behaviour Jesus is looking for; Humility and lack of offence that will set the course of our lives in the divine order of receiving The LORD’s Good purposes in our lives.
The children’s Bread is further extended to the overcomer’s reward of the “Hidden Manna.”
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18.
