The Blind Must Learn to Listen!
I was preaching in a church years ago and was giving the invitation when my eyes looked into the eyes of a young lady in her 20’s. Immediately as I saw her, I heard the Lord say: IF SHE DOES NOT GET SAVED TONIGHT SHE WILL NEVER GET SAVED!!! WARN HER NOW…
I was literally shaken when I heard that. I did not want to speak directly to her and say such a thing so I looked away from her, passing my eyes continually over the entire crowd and said: THERE IS A YOUNG LADY HERE WHO IS IN HER 20’S. THAT THE LORD JUST TOLD ME …. IF YOU DO NOT GET SAVED TONIGHT YOU WILL NEVER BE SAVED.
I continued to warn her by saying, PLEASE DECIDE NOW FOR JESUS, THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE!!!! I did not look at her, but just kept moving my eyes over and over the audience. Needless to say there was no small stir in the meeting as every young woman began to wonder… Which one is he talking too (there was a large crowd there and there were many young women that age in the group.
There was a Blind Lady there that I knew very well. She was a most remarkable person because she could not see with her eyes but you could not confuse her as to who you were. You could walk up behind her and say nothing…. than she would turn toward you as if she was looking and stand there listening… than she would say, O BROTHER DEWEY HOW ARE YOU? I would say, How did you know it was me? Oh, that is easy she would say, I listened!!!
SUDDENLY I saw her leave her seat (she was sitting on the opposite side of the building toward the back from the young lady the Lord has shown me. I watched her as she felt her way out of the row of seats and proceeded to feel her way down the center isle toward the young lady’s direction. I WAS AMAZED WHEN SHE STOPPED AT THE ROW OF SEATS WHERE THEY YOUNG WOMAN WAS SEATED TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE ROW (about 8 people down). She than began to apologetically asked people to let her pass as them as she moved past them. She proceeded closer and closer to the young lady who was lost and when she came to her she felt with her hand the shoulder of the young lady and asked MAY I SIT DOWN HERE? After sitting down, she than proceeded to persuade her to give her life to Jesus, before it was too late!!! WOW.. THAN HERE THEY BOTH COME AS THE YOUNG LADY WHO WAS LOST BEGAN TO WEEP. SHE WAS GLORIOUSLY SAVED THAT NIGHT!!!
I have often thought about that event because it still lingers in my mind. HOW DID SHE KNOW WHICH PERSON IN THAT LARGE CROWD WAS THE LOST LADY? I want you to know, I DID ASK HER THAT NIGHT AFTER THE SERVICE…
SHE SAID, I FOLLOWED HIS VOICE, AND HE TOLD ME EXACTLY WHERE TO GO. I asked her, WHO TOLD YOU WHERE TO GO…??? Her answer was….
THE HOLY SPIRIT TOLD ME. I JUST OBEYED HIM.
Would it not be wonderful if EVERY CHRISTIAN WAS BLIND ENOUGH TO HEAR HIS VOICE? What I mean by that is this; When a blind person wants to go somewhere, they have NO EYES TO SEE, AND THEY HAVE ONLY EARS TO HEAR. They must learn to hear their way, and feel their way by what they hear and seance in their spirit.
Would it not be a great blessing if many were so BLIND TO THE WORLD AND THE THINGS IN THE WORLD that they COULD HEAR HIS VOICE? I believe it is so difficult for many to hear his voice because they depend son much on their eyes rather than their ears (spirit). The things of the world are so very prominent that many can not hear Him as he speaks. It could be that every thing IS TOO LOUD.
Train yourself to HEAR HIS VOICE by tuning out the THINGS OF THE WORLD. Close your eyes and listen… follow his voice, and OBEY. You will find yourselves MOVING AT HIS COMMAND.
Another thing, the Blind Lady was NOT AFRAID TO FOLLOW HIS VOICE. She was accustomed to hearing Him and was SURE. She KNEW HE WOULD LEAD HER TO THE YOUNG LADY AND SHE WOULD NOT BE ASHAMED. And she was BLIND to the other people’s LOOKS, having her spirit set upon OBEDIENCE TO THE CONFIDENT VOICE she followed.
I BELIEVE THIS IS A LESSON WE ALL NEED TO LEARN. LET US CLOSE OUR EYES AND WALK AT HIS INSTRUCTION. HE WILL LEAD US TO MANY FALLEN AND LOST TO HELP THEM SEE.
