The Big Swinger
A Dream Parable
I saw a man who had a wonderful relationship with the LORD, and would spend time with Him, daily.
The man also seemed to play baseball, as I could see many pictures on the walls in his home, from a young age into his early 20’s, in shape and physically fit.
Then, I saw the man on a baseball field. He could hit a ball that was coming in at a good clip. He was turning and talking to others behind him about what a big swinger he was, that he could hit anything, and home-runs were his specialty.
He told them to tell him where and he would hit it there. This happened, time after time.
But alas, as I watched the man began to age and he began to gain some weight, his steps were slower, and he didn’t hit home-runs like he once had. His turning to the others at the fence was a habit now, but his attitude was different.
He seemed to swagger more and boast about who he was and what he could do. I felt grieved in my spirit.
I then saw into his home again. There were more pictures now, as he was in his 30’s and had traveled professionally with a baseball team.
But, he was spending less and less time with the LORD. Baseball seemed more important to him now, than God.
He was forgetting his wife and family at home, as he was traveling, and even after he got home, it was all about the “boys or the team” and spending time with them. He was growing afraid, that as he got older he was losing his “touch” in hitting home-runs.
The crowds at the games didn’t seem to cheer for him as much as they did for the younger players who were being recruited to play. He hit a slump and there were no more home-runs.
He began to become anxious that he would be traded from his team and that others were talking about how “bad of a player” he now was, rather than how “good of a player he was.”
He could overhear others talk about how good he “had been, in the day”, but none seemed to appreciate who he was now.
EXCEPT THE LORD, He hung onto to this man, because HE LOVED THE MAN DEARLY.
The LORD remembered him when he was a little boy and would come to Him daily, praising Him for all He had done for him, even the littlest things sent this boy into the LORD’s arms, telling Him how wonderful He was to him.
The LORD remembered the day when his father first began to play catch with him, in the yard at home.
The LORD remembered him playing in high school and college, when he brought others to the LORD, because of his FIRE FOR GOD.
The LORD remembered and the LORD held him closely to His heart, waiting for His Prodigal Son to return.
Finally, the man was in tears after a game one night. His team manager had told him after the game the team was letting him go.
They weren’t even sending him to another team, because no one else wanted him. He had lost his touch. He felt lost and very alone.
The man in his grief, called out to God. “LORD, do you remember me? Do you remember, you used to help me all the time?
But LORD, I left you, my first love, and turned to baseball, as my love, because it seemed to pay the bills. I idolized baseball and forgot about YOU!
I got lots of glory and was really proud of myself. But LORD, I forgot about YOU.
LORD, YOU were the one, who helped me play. LORD those were YOUR HOME-RUNS, not mine.
LORD, I turned my back to You and walked away. Father, will you forgive me, for leaving you, for something as little as baseball?
Will you forgive me for giving myself the glory, when it was YOU, who was there with me, swinging the bat?
Will you forgive me for getting out of shape?
Not only physically out of shape, where everyone could see me, but more importantly, spiritually, when I forgot that You were watching.
LORD, I’ve really blown it, because God, it affected me in every way, when I lost touch with You. My spiritual relationship with You is a mess, and I’ve lost it.
I forgot all about YOU, and it was all about me. My physical shape isn’t much better. I’m not eating right, so I’ve gained weight.
My swing is slower, and I don’t run the bases as fast. LORD, I’m wearing glasses now, so I don’t even see as well as I used to.
LORD, I’m getting forgetful, so my mind seems to be cloudy at times, and I get distracted easily.
LORD, I just lost my job! What am I going to say to my wife and kids? They are always home cheering me on, when I’m on the road.
They are always there for me, just like You are. But LORD, I forgot You. I turned my back on You.
LORD, will You forgive me?
Will You pull me into Your arms again, like You used to?
Will you let me rest with You?
Will you come to me to encourage me and give me the strength to go on?
Will you help me explain to my wife and kids, because in truth in many ways, I abandoned them too, when I abandoned You.
Baseball was always more important. LORD, I know I need to change my ways. LORD, with Your help, I know I can, but without You, I will be lost even more.
Father, please, God, forgive me. Please come now, and forgive me of my sins. Father, please. I’m desperate for you!!!
By this time the man was on his face before the LORD, crying profusely, in abandonment. He felt like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders, and would never be able to get off the grass on the playing field.
The clean-up crew had come into the stands. The crowd was almost gone. The man was in the middle of the field in the grass, crying loudly.
At that point, he no longer cared about everyone else. It was just God and him. It was between the two of them and that was all that mattered. He continued crying until all his tears were gone, then he waited, for what he thought was forever.
Then he heard the voice of God, not shouting at him in anger, not whining at him, or accusing him. But quietly, the LORD, said, “Yes, My son, I will forgive you. My forgiveness lasts forever and it will go as far as the east is from the west.”
“8 ADONAI is merciful and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in grace. 9 He will not always accuse, He will not keep his anger forever. 10 He has not treated us as our sins deserve or paid us back for our offenses, 11 because His mercy toward those who fear Him is as far about earth as Heaven. 12 He has removed our sins from us as far as the east is from the west. 13 Just as a father has compassion on his children, ADONAI has compassion on those who fear Him.
14 For He understands how we are made, he remembers that we are dust. 15 Yes, a human being’s days are like grass, he sprouts like a flower in the countryside – 16 but when the wind sweeps over, it’s gone; and its place knows it no more.
17 But the mercy of ADONAI on those who fear Him is from eternity past to eternity future, and his righteousness extends to his children’s children, 18 provided they keep his covenant and remember to follow his precepts,” Psalm 103:8-18 (CJB).
“Your relationship with ME diminished as you placed more importance on you, than Me and our relationship.
This affects everything, as you finally saw in the end You not only didn’t keep in shape spiritually in your relationship with Me, but you let yourself go, believing you didn’t have to work at it, that I would continue to keep you.
But when you left Me, you left everything else behind. Even though you had the money and fame to pay your bills, you forgot about your wife and family as well, as Me, spending less and less time with them and Me, and more and more time out on the town with your teammates and other friends you met.
Your timing is off, because of age and the weight that you gained, which also made you slower. The enemy used it all for your downfall.
Learn from this lesson now, so you don’t have to repeat it, because you don’t have time to repeat it. My Army is marching and you need to become a part of it once again.
It is IMPERATIVE FOR THE DAYS AHEAD that YOU BE IN SHAPE ON ALL FRONTS: mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally, and financially. You cannot continue to stay on the path you are on. You must change and realign yourself with Me.”
As the man listened intently, I saw the LORD reached His Hand down to the man and pulled him up into a standing position.
He broke the weight of sin off the man that felt like a ton of bricks or the weight of the world. Then the LORD whispered in his ear, and the man crawled up into the arms of His Father.
The LORD pulled him up and cradled him, like a newborn baby. The countenance on the man’s face began to glow, as the LORD began to speak softly and explain to him, what he would need to do next.
I could hear the LORD tell him, “You have to eat properly, that means spiritually as well. It is so IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO SPEND TIME WITH ME.
We need to develop our relationship, so that you seek Me for everything, not just the big things. I want you to want Me, not what I can do for you or what I can give you.
That comes through worship, reading My Word, and spending time with Me, so we can talk to each other, like you do to your friends.
I AM your friend too, remember? Look at Me as your Heavenly Father too. Also begin to be the earthly husband and father to your wife and children that they need.
They are part of the equation too. Your relationship with Me, affects everything you are and what you are involved in.
Eating, drinking, and exercising properly physically helps your body and mind to develop the way I intended them to be.
Exercising your mind by reading My Word daily, will help challenge you and encourage you to grow spiritually.
Exercising physically will also keep you fit, and challenge you physically as well as mentally.
Being with others of like mind, regarding your relationship with Me, is so important and will help develop you spiritually as well. Remember where two or more are gathered I AM with them and where one can put 1,000 demons to flight, two will put 10,000 demons to flight through agreement in prayer.”
“18 Yes! I tell you people that whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven, 19 to repeat, I tell you that if two of you here on earth agree about anything people ask, it will be for them from My Father in Heaven. 20 For wherever two or three are assembled in My Name, I am there with them,” Matthew 18:18-20 (CJB).
“30 After all, how can one chase a thousand and two put ten thousand to rout, unless their Rock sells them to their enemies, unless ADONAI hands them over? 31 For our enemies have no rock like our Rock – even they can see that!” Deuteronomy 32:30-31 (CJB).
“You have to be able to function in health spiritually first, then the others will follow. If you do not take care of yourself spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally, you will be affected financially, as your health will go downhill.
Follow Me, wherever I go and do what I tell you to do, instead of thinking I should be the one following you. I AM the leader, you are the follower.
I will take care of you and provide for you all that you need. I DIDN’T SAY ALL THAT YOU WANT. So seek Me and follow Me, so that when you do as I say, finances should not be an issue.
If finances are an issue for you, and YOU ARE LIVING THE LIFE I AM CALLING YOU TO IN HOLINESS, NOT RELIGION, then look back to generational curses / sins in your family line, witchcraft / divination / sorcery / occult curses coming against you, or consequences of your own actions / reactions.
If you are unsure then fast, pray, and seek Me. I have all the answers, for I AM HE, who SITS ON THE THRONE. I AM who I AM.”
God Bless You!
