The Basics of Life: Grounded in Christ
I’ve had this song from childhood in my head for a few weeks now. I finally remembered enough of it to Google it.
The LORD has been talking to me about revival in families since the end of last year and what restoration and revival will look like in this nation.
We need to get back to the simplicity of Christ, of fellowship and community, and the biblical pattern for what a healthy church is meant to look like.
I attend a Bible Study at work. A Baptist pastor comes and delivers a message every week.
He is the real deal. So genuine and full of God. This week he shared about a burden he had for his community and said he had challenged his own church to be more active in their cities and such.
He was attending two open meetings this week. One concerning medical marijuana and the other concerning a needle exchange program.
His heart was tender yet determined. He was praying for God to give him effective words to speak.
Today he was at my workplace again to hold the National Day of Prayer.
We met out in the grass and we sang and prayed and he challenged us to see what was still good about where we work, our cities, and our nation and that we realize we can be a more active part of making it better.
Again I find my spirit leaping.
The LORD is making the picture ever more clear to me.
You’ve probably heard it said, “So goes the home, so goes the church, so goes the nation.”
I find it being more true than I ever did.
What if, just what if, we’ve been missing it Church?
I think revival and reformation are about to take many of us by surprise.
No matter when it hits you, be ready to be the change agent He’s calling you to be.
That – is ministry.
And PS: I love my church!
Thank you LORD for connecting us to a healthy church!
I’ll leave you with the lyrics to the song the LORD led me to.
Forever wrecked and undone, change agent Julie.
“We’ve turned the page, for a new day has dawned
We’ve re-arranged what is right and what’s wrong
Somehow we’ve drifted so far from the truth
That we can’t get back home
Where are the virtues that once gave us light
Where are the morals that governed our lives
Someday we all will awake and look back
Just to find what we’ve lost
We need to get back to the basics of life
A heart that is pure and a love that is blind
A faith that is fervently grounded in Christ
The hope that endures for all times
These are the basics, we need to get back to the basics of life
The newest rage is to reason it out
Just meditate and you can overcome every doubt
After all man is a God, they say
God is no longer alive
But I still believe in the old rugged cross
And I still believe there is hope for the lost
And I know the rock of all ages will stand
Through changes of time
We need to get back to the basics of life
A heart that is pure and a love that is blind
A faith that is fervently grounded in Christ
The hope that endures for all times
These are the basics, we need to get back to the basics of life
We’ve let the darkness invade us too long
We’ve got to turn the tide
Oh and we need the passion that burned long ago
To come and open our eyes
There’s no room for compromise
We need to get back to the basics of life
A heart that is pure and a love that is blind
A faith that is fervently grounded in Christ
The hope that endures for all times
These are the basics, we need to get back to the basics of life.”
