The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From the Tree
Yesterday the Lord gave me this unusual but profound word. There is an old saying “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” This phrase is referring to character or personality of a parent, either good or bad, which supposedly the child inherits. I don’t believe that this is always true in the natural, but the Lord gave me this word concerning those who are teaching us spiritual things. They are our spiritual mothers and fathers, mentors, pastors, or whoever it is that we are learning from.
The Lord says, you are only as wise as those whom you choose to follow. Take notice of those who are your mentors. See that they are walking in love and teaching sound doctrine. Emulate their faith, emulate their integrity, emulate their honesty but don’t imitate their anointing. I have given to each one of you individual personalities and anointing and desire to use you just as I have created you to be. I will not change your personality but I will transform your way of thinking, remove your sinful ways, remove your bad habits and create in you a clean heart if you will allow Me to.
Avoid those who gossip and slander for this will hinder your relationship with Me. Avoid strange doctrines and let no one deceive you with cunning words. Avoid those who draw you away from My word with another gospel. Do not receive anything that is contrary to My word but be sure that all you are learning is in accordance with My word. Your hunger will be rewarded but don’t let your hunger cause you to go astray to follow those who would lead you amiss. Allow My uncompromised word to fill your hearts and transform your minds. I will use ordinary people to do extraordinary things, but you could only go to the level of anointing of that which you are depositing inside of yourself. Take heed to what you hear, and only receive sound doctrine from My pure unadulterated word says the Lord.
Luke 6:39 -40 “And He spoke a parable to them: ‘Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into the ditch? A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher. ‘”
1 Corinthians 11:1 “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.”
Ephesians 4:14 “That we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting…”
Hebrews 13: 7-8 “Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
