Tests of the Righteous
I am reminded of the life of Joseph, who was despised and abandoned by some of his family and went through much trials (tests of his faith) over years in his life.
Throughout those times, Joseph remained steadfast in his love for GOD. He was faithful to GOD, trusting Him always.
GOD was with him and did not forsake him. GOD was delighted with him. And we know how dramatic was the life of Joseph who was a slave, a prisoner and then he became a Prime Minister of Egypt.
GOD is reminding us that He will test the righteous (the genuineness of our faith). How we respond to GOD who test our hearts, is vital. These are opportunities for our spiritual growth. He is strengthening us.
“The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD’s throne is in heaven; his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man. The LORD tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence” Psalm 11:4-5.
“My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart. God is a righteous judge, and a God who feels indignation every day” Psalm 7:10.
“… The LORD is righteous; he loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face” Psalm 11:7.
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me” 2 Corinthians 12:9.
“In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith — more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire — may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ” 1 Peter 1:6-7.
“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed” 1 Peter 4:1.2.
