Take Off Your Grave Clothes!
I see some of you as Lazarus lying in a hot, dark cave, wrapped tightly in burial clothes.
It just seems over and done from your perspective. Lying there lifeless, you hear the voice of Jesus calling to you, “Come Out!”
You take that first gasp of breath….. as you try to figure out where he is. That first breath of resurrection air was quickly masked in the stench of death.
The next thing to do is to come out of the grave. Can you picture Lazarus hopping out of the tomb, both feet and arms bound?
You know you got to get up even though you are bound up and come forth as the Master is calling you.
It is what Jesus says next that shakes our world. “Take off the grave clothes!”
You see, Lazarus experienced resurrection power. He was dead and now he is alive. Yet he still had that stench of death on him. He was still bound by the grave clothes.
We as Christians have experienced resurrection power, we were dead and now we are alive, but you can still be bound by spiritual grave clothes.
So many times you walk around smelling of death and decay. Jesus is saying, it’s time to take off those grave clothes.
Take off the shame, take off the hurt, take off fear, take off pain, and all things that are death to us.
It is time to be free of those things. It is time to be free of defeated mindsets and that flawed picture you have of yourself. Come out and be loosed!
Trade in the stench of decay for the sweet smelling fragrance of Christ!
