Strategies for Overcoming
To overcome anything you are going through, reading and speaking God’s Word aloud and Worship are two of the best things you can do for yourself, but more importantly — The LORD loves it!
God Ministers to us in worship, when we worship Him.
I play Worship Music 24/7 whenever possible, because the enemy utterly hates it when we worship GOD and he won’t hang around.
Just like when David played his lute for Saul, the music quieted the spirits in Saul, so he could function normally.
It causes unholy things within you or whoever is in its midst to flee and you and those in earshot are better — blessed because of it.
My favorite song to dance with The LORD is “Dance with Me” by Paul Wilbur.
God loves to slow dance or waltz!
I learned to play Worship Music 24/7 when my brother, who was an alcoholic, would visit. The LORD would have me put on Warfare and Worship Music.
It quieted the spirits in him that were trying to destroy him and it changed the atmosphere in the room he was in to peace.
He could then sleep at night without spirits of torture, torment, and harassment keeping him awake all night.
You don’t have to play it loudly, even playing it softly ministers to the spirits within you and to your mind, heart, and emotions to heal you and as I said before the unholy spirits leave.
Christian music heals you in so many ways, if you’ll let it. Let God move into you, in more ways than one.
Remember I said this: I used to play a lot of Christian Praise and Warfare Music and not so much Worship Music.
It was because I had so many issues — I needed to overcome.
I felt some days, that all I did was battle the enemy. BUT I learned that I loved doing it through dance, as I then physically exerted the energy that beat up the enemy and at the same time let me be obedient to GOD to honor HIM, by overcoming the enemy through worship and dance. Nobody’s looking at home, so why not?
As I began to overcome the enemy more, I was led to begin to play less praise and warfare and more Worship.
I overcame more and felt drawn to worship and spend more 1:1 time with The LORD through it.
The LORD loves when I sing in tongues / in the spirit to Him. I haven’t done it all my life. It’s been more in the last 3-5 years, that it’s become more spontaneous literally bubbling out of me. The Holy Spirit loves it!
I’m not an exceptional singer. In fact I damaged my vocal cords when I was in my early 30’s playing my first game of night softball. I was blinded by the light, as the ball came straight on me and I got hit in the throat and lost my voice for two weeks.
My voice is lower now and I can’t hit the high notes. But GOD doesn’t care. He cares that I want to sing to Him and honor Him in doing it. He cares that He can use me for His Purposes.
What’s really great about singing in tongues is that it builds your relationship with The LORD, as you learn to trust Him more, as He takes over and you sing and speak God’s Words.
He knows His Battle Plan, so He takes over and I don’t worry about it. What’s really awesome is the enemy doesn’t have a clue what GOD is speaking through me.
So God accomplishes His purposes and the enemy, I feel, is overcome more quickly!
Plus… Trust is enlarges in my relationship with The LORD. I really think He solves my and other’s problems a whole lot faster through using tongues as a weapon of warfare.
Remember I said, I used to play a lot of Christian Praise and Warfare Music and not so much Worship Music.
Praise and Warfare are faster, and if you are dancing, usually more intense in your movements.
Worship is decidedly slower and to me it seems to honor God, as you slow down to spend more time with Him.
I’m not a music major by any means, but my spiritual Dad was. He was an accomplished (professional) pianist, and conductor and worship leader.
Most importantly, he loved worshiping The LORD, and in doing so, The LORD taught him some things, that he in turn taught others.
I happened to be fortunate enough to be around and experience this and watch and experience how it brought in the Presence of God and Revival to the small Church we belonged to at the time.
I later learned Ruth Ward Heflin used this same method, as she described it in her book, “Glory“.

Always start with Warfare and Praise Music, to help you battle through everything the enemy is putting in your way.
The Warfare and Praise Music overcomes and stomps on the enemy’s head, and leaves you the victor. HALLELUJAH!!! Do this however long is needed until peace fills the room.
Then begin worship music, slower music that honors The LORD. There is less movement and more stillness with this. Maybe you repeatedly play the same phrase, as worshipers are then led to enter into the heavenly courtrooms before The LORD to dance, petition Him, or just spend quiet time with Him.
The Great Worship Leaders will leave the worshipers in The Heavenly Courtroom before The LORD, in His Presence and in His Peace, for however long is needed.
As a worship leader, you don’t want to constantly go back and forth between Praise/ Warfare and Worship. If you do this, the people worshiping never completely get through their battles to reach peace and they never get into The Courtroom of Heaven with The LORD.
So it leaves them hanging, literally on a thread, not able to go anywhere, because they’re just hanging there, so there’s no complete satisfaction and no completion or conclusion to worship.
Listening to or Reading God’s Word, especially in prayer is an incredible way to overcome the challenges before you. Depending on my day, I try praying three hours a day, both in tongues and in my native language.
Much of my prayers are Scripture that The LORD has directed me to for specific purposes depending on who or what I’m praying about.
I’ve got a lot of them written down, and divided into topic sections, like children, nation, persecuted, etc, so I have easy access to the ones I need, at that time.
God is updating these consistently as needs change through the days or weeks of prayer.
Another part of the revival that I experienced in the small church I was a part of was consistent intercession. God loves when we fill The Prayer Bowls of Heaven (Revelation 5:8; 8:3-5) with impressions from His heart.
It shows our heartfelt relationship with Him and our heart to honor Him and His face, not his hands. It also helps in overcoming the challenges before us.
Intercession / Prayer comes in many forms from repentance, renunciations, petitions, declarations, commands and more. Just listen for The LORD and His Heart, so that you are praying His Heart and not yours. Remember
“Truly I tell you, whatever you forbid and declare to be improper and unlawful on earth must be what is already forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit and declare proper and lawful on earth must be what is already permitted in heaven.” Matthew 18:18-20 AMPC.
As The LORD said earlier, “I, The LORD would say to you there must be agreement with Heaven in all Words and Actions that are spoken in My Name.
When there is not agreement with Heaven, then it is witchcraft being practiced, because it is the heart of mankind, not My heart that was spoken or acted upon. Do I not say, do not listen to your hearts, but Mine? (Jeremiah 7:24; 17:9; Matthew 15:18-19; Mark 7:20-23)
There are consequences to all Words and Actions both good and bad. Those in agreement with Me receive blessings. Those coming against Me will receive My Vengeance.”
Prayer does essential and exciting things for you and for the Kingdom of GOD, when used with His heart.
With God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:23-26; Mark 10:23-27) as we pray through His hearts desire for ourselves, our loved ones, our nation, and the world.
All Scripture from AMPC.
“Another angel came and stood over the altar. He had a golden censer, and he was given very much incense (fragrant spices and gums which exhale perfume when burned), that he might mingle it with the prayers of all the people of God (the saints) upon the golden altar before the throne.
The smoke of the incense (the perfume) arose in the presence of God, with the prayers of the people of God (the saints), from the hand of the angel.
So the angel took the censer and filled it with fire from the altar and cast it upon the earth. Then there followed peals of thunder and loud rumblings and blasts and noises, and flashes of lightning and an earthquake.” Revelation 8:3-5.
“Truly I tell you, whatever you forbid and declare to be improper and unlawful on earth must be what is already forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit and declare proper and lawful on earth must be what is already permitted in heaven.” Matthew 18:18-20.
“But they would not listen to and obey Me or bend their ear [to Me], but followed the counsels and the stubborn promptings of their own evil hearts and minds, and they turned their backs and went in reverse instead of forward.” Jeremiah 7:24.
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick! Who can know it [perceive, understand, be acquainted with his own heart and mind]?” Jeremiah 17:9.
“But whatever comes out of the mouth comes from the heart, and this is what makes a man unclean and defiles [him]. For out of the heart come evil thoughts (reasonings and disputings and designs) such as murder, adultery, sexual vice, theft, false witnessing, slander, and irreverent speech.” Matthew 15:18-19.
“He said, “What comes out of a man is what makes a man unclean and renders [him] unhallowed. For from within, [that is] out of the hearts of men, come base and wicked thoughts, sexual immorality, stealing, murder, adultery, coveting (a greedy desire to have more wealth), dangerous and destructive wickedness, deceit; unrestrained (indecent) conduct; an evil eye (envy), slander (evil speaking, malicious misrepresentation, abusiveness), pride (the sin of an uplifted heart against God and man), foolishness (folly, lack of sense, recklessness, thoughtlessness). All these evil [purposes and desires] come from within, and they made the man unclean and render him unhallowed.”“ Mark 7:20-23.
“Jesus glanced around at them and said, “With men [it is] impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.”” Mark 10:27.
