Should I Come With a Whip or an Olive Branch?
“For the kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power. What do you desire? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love and a spirit of gentleness?” 1 Corinthians 4:20-21.
“Thus says the Lord God, Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing! Your prophets have been like foxes among ruins, O Israel. You have not gone up into the breaches, or built up a wall for the house of Israel, that it might stand in battle in the day of the Lord. They have spoken falsehood and divined a lie; they say, ‘Says the Lord,’ when the Lord has not sent them, and yet they expect him to fulfill their word,” Ezekiel 13:3-6.
“My people, those whom I love; would you rather I come to you with a whip or with an olive branch?
Did I not send tidings through Jeremiah the prophet, when he walked this earth?
His words were not readily received by many, and yet they came forth at a time when they were needed.
Some say that the words do not offer hope and encouragement, and yet to those who place their hope and encouragement in Me, I place hope to them.
Would there be ‘soft words’ given to a nation that has gone astray far from Me?
Would I continually bless those who have forsaken Me?
Would a parent send glad tidings to a child who had constantly disobeyed him?
What would you say to the wayward children?
Tell Me my people, I AM certain that you have the right words!
Surely, you have the wisdom. Tell Me, do you think that I would bless a nation that has constantly murdered its children from the womb?
Tell Me, do you think that I would bless a nation that shot its people and children in their schools?
Your nation is sick and it needs the hand of a master surgeon.
Woe to those who say that all is well. Woe to those prophets who speak glad tidings of great joy. And yet, to a people who have forsaken the things of this world and have followed after Me, I offer hope and encouragement.
For you will need this, as you traverse through the days ahead.
For I AM a God of judgment, and yet I AM also One who gives hope to a people who rely solely upon Me.”
