Shedding Tears?
I am so thankful that God has seen every tear that I shed on my pillow or on my knees at night, and every tear that I have cried behind our own closed doors.
Friends, God has seen every tear we have shed when hurtful or hateful words were spoken to us and crushed our spirit.
Verbal taunting, put downs or people who shift their toxic behaviors towards you can cause Emotional and Spiritual Pain.
It can’t be sugar coated! This is verbal abuse!
Know this though! God has seen every tear we have shed when someone has betrayed us or trampled all over our heart.
Sometimes we shed tears because of PHYSICAL pain.
After Job lost all his possessions and all his children and his body was covered in painful boils, Job cried out to God, “For my sighing comes before I eat, and my groanings pour out like water,” (Job 3:24).
Sometimes we shed tears because of EMOTIONAL pain.
Remember after the birth of Jesus when Herod decreed that every Jewish male child two years old and younger in the town of Bethlehem was to be killed?
Matthew 2:18 tells us,
“A voice was heard in Rhama, lamentation, weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted, because they were no more.”
Sometimes we shed tears because of SPIRITUAL pain.
On the night of His betrayal, Jesus had warned Peter that, “before the rooster crows, he would deny Him three times.”
Peter didn’t believe he was capable of doing such a terrible thing, but before dawn the next morning Peter did exactly what Jesus said he would do.
And Luke 22:62 says, “So Peter went out and wept bitterly.”
Our God, who created us knows there is healing in the shedding of tears.
Through the shedding of tears we release toxic emotions such as stress, sadness…… grief…… anxiety….. and frustration.
Contrary to what many people believe, tears aren’t a sign of weakness, tears are a sign of strength. The Bible tells us that even “Jesus wept,” (John 11:35).
God saw every tear we shed when our loved one died, and every tear we have shed since then when we think of them.
God has seen every tear we shed when we have miserably failed and lost all hope in ourselves.
God has seen every tear we have shed over a wayward son or daughter who has gone astray.
He has put your tears and my tears in His bottle and recorded them in His book.
“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one of them in the book that you record all of my life in.” Psalm 56:8.
Some people will hold in hurt, anger, and shame, in order to avoid the lancing of a wound.
These things can fester, get fiery red and hurt even more if not addressed. Often, those who won’t seek out the help they seriously need when they are in pain, crisis, or just feel stuck, repeat the cycle over and over many times.
We ourselves, can’t always self-advise or address our problem or give ourselves the wiser counsel that we need because God made us people who need to surrender to humility and safe accountability to walk out life’s kinks.
You might not like the counsel or advice you receive at times when there’s an open wound being”poked at”.
Trust God’s process. Don’t hide from pain and above all, don’t punish others with your pain.
Loving and honest help is waiting for you in the wings of grief.
That’s the safety of God’s Promises.
“Those who learn from the lessons of life will join the others who are wise.
Those who disregard discipline sabotage themselves, but those who are open to correction gain understanding.
Reverence for the Eternal is the first lesson of wisdom, and humility always precedes honor,” Proverbs 15:31-33.
