Setting the Captives Free
In the Book of Acts, there are two different incidents when God opened prison doors to release His people.
In the Book of Acts chapter five, there were many signs and wonders performed through the hands of the apostles.
The sick were healed, demons were cast out and people even received healing through Peter’s shadow. There was a great revival and multitudes accepted the LORD, but the religious leaders were outraged.
The high priest and religious leaders put the apostles in prison, but the angel of the LORD went to them and released them saying: “Go, stand in the temple courts, and tell the people all about this new life.”
There are also angels today who are working on our behalf….
In the Book of Acts chapter sixteen, Paul and Silas cast a demon out of a woman who was a fortune teller as she continually followed them and mocked them.
Paul finally turned around and cast the demonic spirit out of her in the name of Jesus. The spirit immediately left her. Her masters called the magistrates because they were angry that she was delivered and they would now lose their income.
They beat them with rods, shackled them and put them in prison. At midnight as Paul and Silas were praying and worshiping there was a great earthquake, and their shackles were loosed.
The jail keeper fell down before them trembling and asked, “What must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
The next day the keeper of the prison said to Paul, “The magistrates have said to let you go: now therefore depart, and go in peace.”
We serve a supernatural God who is still setting people free today. You may not be in a prison made of cement and steel bars, but some of you are bound with sickness, financial issues, addictions or toxic relationships.
Some are imprisoned in your mind with fearful or perverted thoughts. You may have been a Christian for twenty years but there are still things in your life that are holding you captive and you don’t know how to break free from them.
Jesus wants to release those of you who feel that there is no way of escape.
The LORD says, “I have come to set the captives free. Healing and prosperity are My will.
Walking in divine favor is My will. I desire to bring you into a life of freedom but you must continue in the right direction.
Don’t allow yourself to be ensnared once again in the things that you have been set free from.
Do not be lured back into that very thing that you have been delivered from. Release yourself from anything that will bring entrapment and put you back into bondage.
Allow Me to release you from the hurtful memories from the past that bring pain and sorrow.
You don’t have to struggle with negative thoughts if you would take every thought captive.
Allow Me to set you free from the things that war against your soul and bring fear and confusion. As you learn to recognize the tactics of the enemy, you will not be manipulated by his trickery and beguiled by his cunning ways.
His plan is to entice you and distract you from the purpose and plan that I have for your life. This is his way of taking you off the course and the direction that I AM taking you in.
Remove yourself from anything that is contrary to My Word, and that which is hindering your walk with Me so that you will be set free from this tug of war.
I desire to do things in your life that are above your human reasoning but you must first come before Me in total surrender and submission.
As you do, you will discover My plans and purpose for your life. You will no longer be enticed by unfamiliar voices that lead you astray.
Speak words of life over your situations. As you decree and declare My Word, you will begin to see the manifestation in the natural.
Speak health to you body. Speak healing to your bones, tissues, organs and blood. Speak soundness to your mind. Allow Me to cleanse and restore your way of thinking so that you will no longer have to live in despair.
As you release others, you will be released. Do not harbor bitterness in your heart, but allow Me to release you from thoughts of revenge and give you a heart of forgiveness.
I will break every chain that is imprisoning you and the anchors that are keeping you from succeeding. Allow Me to open the prison doors and bring you into the abundant life that I have for you,” says the Lord.
“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed,” John 8:36.
“They laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the common prison. But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, “Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life,” Acts 5:18-20
“And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to keep them securely. Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed,” Acts 16:23-26.

Thank you Lord for sending forth this message in this hour. This was just what I needed because I was feeling very dry especially today.
