Seek More Like Moses: Press Into THE LORD For His Glory
“The Law and The Prophets were until John. Since that time The Kingdom of GOD has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it.” Luke 16:16.
When It comes to GOD, you have to be like Oliver Twist: Ask for more.
We have to be endlessly hungry for more of GOD, all of GOD — so as to “be filled with All The Fullness of GOD.” (Ephesians 3:19).
A most WONDERFUL conversation took place between THE LORD and Moses in the wilderness.
Like Jacob (when he clung to THE LORD, saying “I will not let You go unless You bless me.” — see Genesis 32:22-29), Moses engaged The Attention of THE LORD until He blessed him by showing him ALL His Goodness!
Amazing. Isn’t it? His sheer determination and relentless pursuit to see The Glory of GOD!
We must wish to see JESUS
“Now there were certain Greeks among those who came up to worship at The Feast. Then they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, “Sir, we wish to see JESUS.” “ John 12:20-21.
I had long desired fervently to see JESUS. Then about ten years ago, I kept pressing in relentlessly, asking JESUS to appear to me.
Within days, I had a dream in which JESUS was majestically walking through an aisle of a church during a service with a serious sense of mission, pace and poise. He quickly touched and healed some of people as He walked by.
There were six angels with him, three by each Flank of His Frame.
His Face was shining like the sun. His Countenance and Garments were quite like in the image below.

He has since appeared to me in various Forms both when awake and asleep.
Just like various brethren, I am all the more daily seeking to see THE LORD, to know Him as He wants and ought to be known. To please Him in all things at all times.
Moses continually fervently sought to know THE LORD (Paul likewise did—Philippians 3:10-11; and we too must likewise do).
“Then Moses said to THE LORD, “See, You say to me, ‘Bring up this people.’ But You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found Grace in My Sight.’ Now therefore, I pray, if I have found Grace in Your Sight, show me now Your Way, that I may know You and that I may find Grace in Your Sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.” And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found Grace in Your Sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.” So THE LORD said to Moses, “I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found Grace in My Sight, and I know you by name.” And he said, “Please, show me Your Glory.” Then He said, “I will make all My Goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim THE NAME OF THE LORD before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” But He said, “You cannot see My Face; for no man shall see Me, and live.” And THE LORD said, “Here is A Place by Me, and you shall stand on The Rock. So it shall be, while My Glory passes by, that I will put you in The Cleft of The Rock, and will cover you with My Hand while I pass by. Then I will take away My Hand, and you shall see My Back; but My Face shall not be seen.” “ Exodus 33:12-23.
Look at the progression. Very instructive and insightfully inspiring.
Moses’ requests :
- ‘Then Moses said to THE LORD, “See, You say to me, ‘Bring up this people.’ But You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found Grace in My Sight.’ Now therefore, I pray, if I have found Grace in Your Sight, show me now Your Way, that I may know You and that I may find Grace in Your Sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.”
GRANTED! : And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
- Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found Grace in Your Sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.”
GRANTED! : So THE LORD said to Moses, “I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found Grace in My Sight, and I know you by name.”
Anymore?
- And he said, “Please, show me Your Glory.”
GRANTED! : Then He said, “I will make all My Goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim THE NAME OF THE LORD before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”
Isn’t it WONDERFUL how Moses kept pressing for more, interactively asking GOD for more until he got more than he asked for?
( All of these, by the way, was after Moses had experienced THE LORD, His Power and Glory in The Burning Bush Encounter, during The Ten Plagues in Egypt and The Exodus, parting and crossing the Red Sea, and being with THE LORD for 40 days and 40 nights on Mt. Sinai on the first occasion! )
As led by THE HOLY SPIRIT, this is exactly what and how we must be with GOD: Seek to know Him more, seek Him for more, seek Him for ALL His Goodness.
“For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through The Patience and Comfort of The Scriptures might have hope.” Romans 15:4.
“Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.” 1 Corinthians 10:11.
If Moses had not kept asking for more of GOD, He will not have eventually made ALL His Goodness pass before him.
If we ask according to His Will we will have what we ask (1 John 5:14-15).
As THE LORD has said:
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your FATHER Who is in Heaven give Good Things to those who ask Him!” Matthew 7:7-11.
After THE LORD had given me the above I saw this feature in my study Bible (New Spirit Filled Life Bible).
I was amazed at The GODincidence; it wasn’t a coincidence:
“Moses’ passionate plea to see God’s glory is one of the most intimate encounters between a man and GOD ever recorded.
His request is not for a display of God’s power or even His presence, but he hungered for something more: Moses wanted an intimate knowledge of God Himself!
That is why God hid Moses in the cleft of the rock and manifested His glory, so Moses was not only exposed to the divine afterglow, but enraptured by the fullness of His Person — His character; the One who is compassionate, gracious and just ([Exodus] 34:6,7).
Yes, Moses had received God’s promises ([Exodus 33] v. 2), seen God’s power, and been guaranteed God’s presence ([Exodus 33] v. 14). But Moses wanted God’s Person — the only reality that will ever evoke a lasting sense of wonder and fulfill with a lasting satisfaction.”
Many are seeking “revival” more than fervent intimacy with GOD and living righteously for Him (Titus 2:11-14; 1 Peter 2:24).
Having revival without being transformed and walking in The Fear of THE LORD and The Help of THE HOLY SPIRIT (Acts 9:31) will produce many cases of Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5) in The Church in these last days.
Let us be warned and avoid disaster in our midst.
As THE LORD has said, “No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse. Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.” Matthew 9:16-17.
THE HOLY SPIRIT is The New Wine. We must be new wineskins (purified and refined vessels) to receive His New Outpouring, The Arriving Glory at this set time.
Yes, we need revival. We pray for revival. But revival is not an end in itself. The End is GOD and His Glory. To be transformed into His Image from Glory to Glory.
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror The Glory of THE LORD, are being transformed into The Same Image from Glory to Glory, just as by THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD.” 2 Corinthians 3:18.
We must seek GOD and His Glory continually for our transformation and that of the whole earth.
THE LORD has promised that “the earth will be filled with The Knowledge of The Glory of THE LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk 2:14).
But it takes our fervently seeking Same to see The Fulfillment.
Although THE LORD had promised The Outpouring of THE HOLY SPIRIT to them just before He ascended to Heaven, it took the fervent and relentless prayers of the about 120 disciples in The Upper Room to see The Fulfillment and Manifestation on The Day of Pentecost.
Let us fervently, continually seek THE LORD: to know Him, too see His Glory. To please Him in all things.
Let us continually pray to our FATHER: “Your Kingdom come, Your Will be done on earth as It is in Heaven.”
“The LORD Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.” 2 Timothy 4:22.
“Farewell” Acts 15:29.
~ Jacob Addison Awagah
Jacob, an apostle of JESUS CHRIST by The Will of GOD, according to The Promise of Life Which is in CHRIST JESUS, (2 Timothy 1:1).
Like John, I like to put my head to The Heart of JESUS so as to know and do His Will always. What’s in His Heart is what matters now and FOREVER. His Heart’s Desire is my only desire. My will is to do His Will.
As John was, I am the disciple whom JESUS loves. And like Paul, I am “the prisoner of CHRIST JESUS” (Ephesians 3:1) for His Purpose forever: to obey Him always.
NB. Surely, the disciple whom JESUS loves and “the prisoner of CHRIST JESUS”, like ALL The Promises of GOD, are available to every believer to obtain, just as John and Paul did.
“And having been perfected, He [JESUS] became The Author of Eternal Salvation to all who obey Him,” Hebrews 5:9.
We should all desire this. Keep pressing in.
AMEN AND AMEN
