Search Me, O God, and Know My Heart!
Every trial is meant to reveal the truest disposition of the heart regarding a matter.
No matter how aware you are about the trials of your faith, the permitted trials of your faith are designed in a way that you won’t recognize the circumstances that have been created around you — for the purpose of revealing the truest disposition of your heart on a matter.
Of all things; The Patriarch Abraham was instructed to sacrifice the very son he waited decades to receive from The LORD.
This test would reveal what Abraham truly wanted — a fulfillment of the promise God made to him — or to live a life completely submitted to God regardless of wherever it led him.
The LORD allowed Satan to whip up a storm in Job’s life, with him practically loosing everything — simply to test if at any point, Job would curse The LORD for any reason.
This would prove if Job served God because God blessed and put a hedge around him — or Job served The LORD as God regardless of his personal circumstance.
The circumstance of certain death and humiliation was created around Apostle Peter to see if in death and humiliation he would deny The LORD Jesus Christ.
When a trial is permitted to come to a person, specific sets of circumstances are created. These circumstances would portray a certain outcome, if certain decisions are taken.
For instance, you may loose a significant contract, job, favor or even your life, if you choose to take a stand in righteousness when the circumstances of the trial have been set.
Interestingly, The LORD will permit you to go through the loss, bear the consequences of your righteous choice, to see if at any time, you would regret having made the righteous choice, because of the painful consequence that came with that choice.
Like The Apostle Paul declared in Philippians 3,
“Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,” Philippians 3:8.
If you have been determined to go through a trial, you may not know what circumstances was deliberately created around you to reveal the truest disposition of your heart on a matter.
One thing The Psalmist did, he didn’t wait for the times of trials, he offered himself daily to The LORD saying;
“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting,,” Psalm 139:23-24.
Because we may not know what wickedness lies within, until the appropriate circumstances are created to unravel it.
So like King David, you learn not to boast in your own rightness.
In utter sincerity, yield completely to The LORD, ask The LORD to search you out, only then will you truly see what is good and what is evil.
Then invite The LORD to lead you in the way, everlasting.
One thing is common amongst those who walked and prevailed through significant trials — it is the sincerity of their hearts.
“And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, LORD, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise,” Luke 23:39-43.
So daily I cry;
“Search me, O God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts — and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!” (Psalm 139:23-24)
