Saul the Religious Murderer
See Acts 9:1-22 (below).
Saul was a very religious man. He was a traditional jew who believed so strongly that men are saved by keeping and living The Laws of Moses.
Saul had taken it upon himself to kill all who said they were “Saved by grace through Jesus Christ”.
Saul saw in his religious opinion that all who believed in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation [without keeping The Law of Moses], were imposters and false.
Saul believed that all who would not turn from their “Grace salvation belief”, needed to be killed. Yes, killed…. J ust to protect the teaching of salvation through keeping Moses Law [Mosaic Law].
Saul was a mighty man; at least that was how he saw himself! After all, he was serving the God who had delivered The Law to Moses!
This Saul, was a ‘chip off the old block’ of the Pharisee, who daily sat in the temple, crucifying all false messiahs.
Saul was a very strong advocate that any sinner who sinned and was condemned by The Law of Moses and should be stoned to death.
He believed that so strongly, he had no qualms in killing men, women or even children who he saw as false!
Saul called for the stoning of Stephen, [a follower of Jesus Christ and a preacher]. They brought the robe of Stephen at Sauls feet, after stoning him to death! Saul was proud, and he felt he had done God, a service!
Notice the real spirit and motive of Saul.
He was so full of religion, he would have anyone who did not believe “like he believed”, put to death!
He was like those he followed, who had before him crucified Jesus, putting him to death on The Cross.
The spirit in Saul was not bothered by even crucifying these evil believers, who believed salvation by grace in Jesus alone!
But, Saul was wrong about his “works — salvation beliefs”.
He was wrong about The Law of Moses, as being given to save men.
Instead, The Law was given to Moses to cause men to see their awful sins and then God gave them a sacrificial system of Salvation.
The keeping of The Law was not what saved the Old Testament believer, but it was the blood sacrifices [that at least would cover their sins]!
The Law was given to convict men of sin, and cause them to bring in a sacrifice offering, and when they could be forgiven.
The Jews were wrong about what The Law of Moses was all about, and they missed the meaning of the sacrifices, and thus missed The True Lamb of God who came to die for their sins!
Saul had developed the false doctrine of the Pharisees who believed a man must keep The Law to be saved.
He believed Jesus was an imposter, and could never be The True Messiah, because Jesus preached something else than the Pharisees preached.
Saul was who he was, because they/ he had rejected Jesus Christ.
Today we have many who are Sauls
They are going about killing believers, discrediting them, shaming them, and preaching evil about them, just because they too are Sauls, going about to establish the false belief that men are saved by keeping The Laws of Moses. [Law keepers, in order to be saved].
These modern Sauls have also missed the true meaning of The Sacrifice of Blood for sins. They hang to The Law, yet, in wrong belief.
The Sauls of today are like the Saul in the Bible. They are murders, who really want to kill anyone who will not believe exactly like they do [as they say, keeping His Commandants and Laws].
They have no scruples at all, to shame and damn anyone who believes that salvation can be obtained by simple Grace through Faith.
They don’t mind calling them names, taking them to law, trying to destroy their testimony before all who know them.
They are today’s Sauls. They seek who they can destroy, just because they are believers in Jesus, who believe that faith in Jesus Christ alone, without the works of The Law, are eternally saved.
So rotten are the Sauls of today, they stink. If you get downwind of one, you can smell his religion!
They are religious, stinking, murders! Like the old Saul, they go about seeking someone they feel has broken The Law!
Some are hanging out on Facebook, and some are reading all the messages [and this one] seeking to find out who believes one can be saved by simply believing by Grace through Faith, that hey can be eternally saved.
These Sauls have never seen the reason for The Cross; they still see as the Pharisees who crucified Jesus.
Saul of the Bible story was a man who hid behind his “Righteous (so called) works”.
If you happen to meet one of these Sauls, you will not be with him long before he begins to criticize you, just because you speak of simple saving Grace, and eternal life.
One of their favorite lines of reasoning is, “It is not enough to say your saved by grace, but you must, after your saved, keep the Commandments perfect, and keep The Law of Moses”!
If you walk with a Saul long enough, he will be one who has separated himself from all Grace through Faith people.
A Saul will never even say out loud that they believe in The Gospel of The Grace of God.
You will be shamed and treated as stupid, if you do not believe in their law. They go about bragging of the red letter* Bible, and will not even talk about the grace chapters.
The thing that is most deceiving today about these modern Sauls, is that they themselves have taken upon themselves a belief which I call, a religious Jesus.
They say and teach that Jesus is The LORD of their lives, but will turn and kill the real Jesus in you, [who believe by grace]. The fact is, they say…
“Look at me… I am Jesus. I am so perfect, just follow me… I am like Jesus!”
Such a “Rotten spirited” person for sure, he is a “hypocritical Jesus man.” A man who says he is like Jesus Christ, but hates the very works that Jesus did!
Jesus said, “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel and baptize those who believe.” (Mark 16:14-18).
“No,” they say, “We will just set an example, and say ‘Follow me, for I am perfect.. I am your Jesus!'”
The scriptures tell us that the devil has gone to Church, and has taken upon himself the form of, “A Jesus…”
That’s right, they literally have made the true Jesus into a corrupted form of Jesus.
To say they are like Jesus would be sad, because in reality they are “Another Jesus.” They are in reality not representing a true picture of Jesus.
“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him,” 2 Corinthians 11:3-4.
In their presentation of their idea of Jesus, they then corrupt the work done by the real Jesus, and will preach another gospel, or way to be saved [other than by grace in the finished works of Christ].
And before long, if you continue to listen to this Saul, He has ….. “Another spirit!”
That is right, another spirit. The spirit of this new Saul [who goes about claiming to be a perfect follower of Moses Law] is not really The True Spirit of God, The Holy Spirit!
No, this new Saul is of an unholy spirit. Really, it is deceptive, because he walks in the power of a familiar spirit!
So awful is the Saul of today, he deceives many young believers and unknowing Christians to the place where they will literally take up stones to stone to death a true believer in Jesus, just because this modern Saul said… do it!
What happened to the Saul of the Bible?
Saul was stricken down by light as he traveled down to Damascus to capture real believers in Jesus Christ.
He was stricken blind. This gives us hope today, because Saul could no longer see clearly where the believers were, he was blind! Wow. What a blessing!
Saul was then left in his blinded stupor for 3 days, then God sent one to Saul to straighten him out, and get him truly saved, and baptized as one of the true believers, himself!!
Wow…. What wonderful Grace, that God would stop Saul and change Saul!
God changed this Saul into another man, and gave him the wonderful name of Paul! (Acts 13:9).
Now, the old ugly Saul, became a new man with a very nice and wonderful spirit. He became so wonderful, Paul went into all the world as an apostle, starting Churches everywhere, and getting people saved by Grace!
It was the stricken Saul who turned into the grace Paul, and we know by Bible record, that Paul was given [by God himself] the true gospel of The Grace of God. [see Galatians 1]
Saul became Paul, a preacher of Grace and Eternal Salvation by Grace. Whole chapters of the Book of God were written about Grace that Paul found in Jesus Christ!
Today’s Sauls hate the Grace Gospel. They [in the spirit of the old Saul] still hate the Jesus who offers His Life in Grace to any sinner (no matter how bad he is) and that a sinner, can become a saint, by grace. The very grace that the old Saul hated.
* * * * * * *
I have written this message in love for the modern Sauls who are going about to establish their law religion, and killing innocent believers in Jesus Christ.
LORD, strike them blind and help them see clearly!
I hope this makes you Sauls mad enough to check it out!
“1 Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest 2 and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
3 As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. 4 Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”
5 And he said, “Who are You, Lord?”
Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”
6 So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?”
Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
7 And the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice but seeing no one. 8 Then Saul arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened he saw no one. But they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus. 9 And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.
10 Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and to him the Lord said in a vision, “Ananias.”
And he said, “Here I am, Lord.”
11 So the Lord said to him, “Arise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, for behold, he is praying. 12 And in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hand on him, so that he might receive his sight.”
13 Then Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem. 14 And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name.”
15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. 16 For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake.”
17 And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” 18 Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized.
19 So when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus.
20 Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God.
21 Then all who heard were amazed, and said, “Is this not he who destroyed those who called on this name in Jerusalem, and has come here for that purpose, so that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?”
22 But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, proving that this Jesus is the Christ,” Acts 9:1-22.
