Roadblocks to Dedicated Service
“Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship. And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].” Romans 12:1-2 (AMP).
There are always many obstacles in the way to Dedicated Service. The largest one is one’s FLESH, and it crying out for Self Gratification. The overcoming of the Flesh is the largest battle anybody who Believes and desires to serve the LORD will ever face!
IT WILL TAKE A LIVING SACRIFICE. What is meant by this is: IT WILL TAKE DEATH TO SELF. No person alive is able to make this decision easily. The Great Apostle Paul said, I DIE DAILY. In other words IT WAS AN EVERY DAY BATTLE.
The other obstacles most difficult to overcome is THE DRAWING OF THE WORLD THAT WANTS TO CONFORM YOU TO ITS IMAGE. Many people today who are Believers in Christ, NEVER MAKE A COMMITMENT BECAUSE OF THE DRAWING ASIDE OF THE WORLD.
So, In the Best of the Best, a deliberate decision must take place. Jesus said it in John 15… Many are only Servants because they only serve as they feel they are required to serve [leaving much to themselves for later to satisfy their life]. A Servant is one who then DOES ONLY WHAT HE FEELS HE HAS TO DO. But, Jesus said, I want FRIENDS. For a Friend will do whatsoever he sees his Master doing.
Moses SAW THE LORD… IN A BURNING BUSH… then he GAVE HIS LIFE AND ALL HE HAD TO GO BACK TO EGYPT. And his Friendship with God set him apart as perhaps the Greatest man in the Old Testament stories. A man who literally died doing God’s revealed will.
Study the story of Moses and see: IT WAS NEVER EASY. AND HE GAVE HIS ALL, HIS WHOLE FUTURE AND LIFE, TO HELP THE PEOPLE TRAPPED IN EGYPT TO BE FREE.
~ Desert Prophet Ken Dewey
The light will shine in His glory… In the desert.
