Righteous Reporters Witnessing in the Assembly of The LORD
“I was forty years old when Moses the servant of The LORD sent me from Kadesh Barnea to explore the land; and I brought him back a report according to my convictions; but my fellow Israelites who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt in fear. I however, followed The LORD wholeheartedly; so on that day Moses swore to me, the land on which your feet have walked, will be your inheritance, and that of your children forever, because you have followed The LORD My GOD wholeheartedly.” Joshua 14:7-9.
The authority of the report of a reporter, and its role in determining the destiny of a person, a nation and a generation is profoundly portrayed in these verses.
While the Israelites were at the tail end of serving their time in Babylon as seen in The Scriptures, The LORD brought the Prophet Zechariah into an experience, where he yet saw the ministry of an angelic reporter bringing a report before The LORD that was key to making a decision concerning the deliverance of Israel; as written in Zechariah 1: 7-13;
“Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying, I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white. Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be. And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the Lord hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth. And they answered the angel of the Lord that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest. Then the angel of the Lord answered and said, O Lord of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years? And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words.” Zechariah 1: 7-13.
Isn’t that profound! The job description of these Angels as revealed to Prophet Zechariah was that of a reporter — sent to walk to and fro the earth — and to bring reports unto The LORD.
This report when presented to The LORD became a witness on behalf of the nation, by which a decision in righteousness and justice was made for the salvation of the nation Israel as we see in the following verses in the same book of Zechariah
“And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words. So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy. And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction. Therefore thus saith the Lord ; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the Lord of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem. Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet you choose Jerusalem.” Zechariah 1:13-17.
The authority of the reporter and the reports they bring before The Council of The LORD on behalf of peoples, nations and generations are extremely significant.
In writing about the authority of ministers, and the reports they bring concerning their flocks, The Book Of Hebrews reveal;
“Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.” Hebrews 13:17.
Look at that! Wow, The Scriptures says; that they may bring an account, a report concerning you; and if it is done with joy; it will be profitable unto you.
In other words, like we have seen, the reports they bring weigh significantly in the Courts of Heaven, and if they bear righteous reports of your joyous service to The LORD, it will be profitable as decisions are made concerning you in Heaven.
The Scriptures are replete with many instances about the ministry of reporters and the reports they bring, and how it matters much in the decision making process for people’s, nations and generations.
The Life Of Job is a profound learning experience as well.
The Scriptures reveals in The Book Of Job, how the sons of GOD gathered before The LORD to bring a report to The LORD.
“Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.” Job 1:6-7.
The first significant point of this verse is the gathering before The LORD; and The LORD questioning them to obtain a report of what’s taking place in their respective territories — this led to the conversation about Job, and a testing to try the report that was spoken of concerning him.
The Apostle Peter is another instance of one whose report was being reviewed by testing.
Before the time of his denying The LORD three times; The LORD JESUS CHRIST told Peter the Apostle as seen in Luke 22:31-32;
“And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat, but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.” Luke 22:31-32.
There are those like Joshua and the spies that bear the anointing and calling to bear reports before The LORD; as ministers on behalf of the flocks as seen in Hebrews 13:17; and as leaders on behalf of the nation, nations, and the spheres to which they are assigned.
Their ministry and assignments intersect with the angelic ministers as seen in Zechariah 1; whose job is to bring reports before The LORD.
In like manner, the enemy craves to sit at the throne of these reporters, so he can stand as the accuser of the brethren, bringing false reports and false accusations against the saints.
More so, in desiring to sit at the throne of the reporter so he can bring accusations, the enemy plots to tempt peoples and nations to sin; just as Balaam taught Balak to set a stumbling block against Israel, so that through unfavorable reports of sin; there will be amongst other things, convictions for judgment in the decisions made concerning the nation of Israel.
The root sin of Balaam that opened the door to be used to set a stumbling block, is seen in the reputation Balak revealed of him in Numbers 22:6,
“Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.” Numbers 22:6.
Balaam was known for the potency of his curses; one which cannot thrive without false witnesses.
When a reporter whose words weigh significantly as a witness over peoples, nations and generations trade the authority of their voice for fleshy lust, they loose the authority of that voice, and the enemy creeps in, hijacks that authority and uses it to bear false witness and bring false reports against people, nations and generations.
Among the six things written in Proverbs 6 The LORD hates; they all bear the character of false witnesses and false reporters.
“These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” Proverbs 6:16-19.
When a people, a church community, a nation looses the authority of its righteous reporters, the enemy runs wild across these gates, bearing false witness, bringing false reports, setting peoples and nations up to sin; in an attempt to gain a conviction that affects the judicial outcome in the decision making process in The Kingdom Of Heaven.
The Nation Of Israel hung in the balance and her destiny swung in another direction by reason of the reports the spies brought.
The destiny of a church community, peoples, nations hangs in the balance and can swing in either direction of righteous decrees or conviction largely due to the witness of the reporters.
As you ponder these matters; you must seek to know;
- Who brings a report/ witness concerning me.
- Who brings a report/ witness concerning my nation before The LORD.
- How can I stand as a righteous reporter/ witness concerning my sphere of influence whose words when weighed on the scale will birth a righteous favorable outcome for my sphere of influence.
- How shall we redeem voices/ reporters/ witnesses that have been sold out like Balaam; whose words have set up stumbling blocks, falsehood and brought convictions where righteous justice should have prevailed.
- How shall we redeem the conflicts that false accusations, false witnesses has caused within our immediate circle, and see truth prevail so that righteousness and justice be established.
No doubt, The Scriptures reveal, we shall all stand before The Great White Throne Of The LORD to give an account at the fullness of time.
However, in the progressive walk of fulfilling our destiny on earth; we must seek to be like Joshua; and the testimony he bore; so we may gain favorable judicial outcomes that advances the purposes of The LORD for peoples, nations and generations.
There is a battle for righteous representation of our peoples, families, nations and generation — whose testimony will shift the scales for the advances The Kingdom Of The LORD JESUS CHRIST must make in this season.
We must begin to cry out for the redemption of the authority of reporters lost through the schemes of Balaam; so righteous voices can emerge bearing righteous reports that will advance the Kingdom’s destiny of our generation.
