Revival and Setting Expectations
The picture below is of Cane Ridge Meeting House, the centre of the 1803 Cane Ridge Revival.
I just saw another report of the Anointing there and folk having raised expectations of revival in 2022.
Last weekend, we listened to an impassioned preach on revival expectations, and The LORD prompted me to re-post this from last December.
We must EXPECT MORE if The Glory is to fall and Revival is to breakthrough. The next Great Awakening is upon us and it has started in one or two places.
The hunger is there, now raise your expectations and pray for breakthrough TODAY! Everything points towards revival being imminent. It’s up to us if we want it, we need to reach for it — hold on to the horns of the altar until we get it!
Here’s the post from December
Setting Expectations
I wrote a while back about our low level of expectation whenever we come to Church. (See below: “What Do You Go to Church For?” (September 2021))
This has been playing on my mind today until The LORD prompted me further. He took me, specifically, to this short passage,
“And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:1-5.
The LORD asked me this, “If you were that Church, and you received that Message, what would you expect to see or happen when you went to that Church?”
I answered, “LORD, I’d expect to see exactly what the writer spoke about — a demonstration of The Spirit and of power!”
“Exactly! So why, having read, or at least heard that phrase in church, do My People expect so little of Me?”
I had no answer!
“Tell My People — it’s time to raise your expectations of Me. I do not come to your meetings just as a spectator. Rather, I come to bless you and to participate.
Too often, I AM virtually excluded. More often, I AM silenced and only allowed to move when it’s convenient for you.
Most frequently, I AM welcomed, but only as a spectator, and if or when I AM allowed to manifest, an apology is given lest I have offended someone!
When was the last time, outside a specifically announced and planned service, when was the last time anyone expected Me to ‘show up’ (as is often said)?
A Testimony of any kind is often treated as a special event!
My People should be queuing up to testify, with expectation of more testimonies to come from today’s meeting!
it is time to raise expectations in My People. It’s time for them to expect Me to move by My Spirit, in Power, every time they meet together.
Prayer meetings — expect answers. Regular meetings, expect my power to manifest in miracles. Healing meetings, expect greater miracles — expect the blind shall see — expect the deaf shall hear — expect the lame to walk — expect the dead to live again!
When you take to the streets, expect the hungry to be fed, expect the bound to be freed, expect sinners to be saved.
Raise your expectations — of Me, and of yourselves.
Let faith rise every time you meet, wherever you meet, whenever you meet, for whatever purpose you meet — expect me to fulfill My Promises!” says The LORD.
21 December 2021 & Today
What Do You Go to Church For?
“As they departed, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet. For this is he of whom it is written: ‘Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare your way before You.’ “Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.” Matthew 11:7,9-11.
The LORD asked me a question, and then He told me to ask the same thing of The Church.
“What do you go to Church for?
What do you expect to see or hear, maybe, when you go to Church? Some praise and worship? Prayer? A sermon? Maybe even communion?
Certainly, some dates for your diary — upcoming Church events?
Maybe greeting friends, brothers and sisters? Plan your next street outreach? How about coffee?
Did you ever think to go to Church specifically expecting to see God in action?
To witness His power?
To see a miracle of healing?
To see deliverance?
To listen to a prophet, or to witness salvations?
What would your Church do if someone like Smith Wigglesworth, or A.A. Allen, or William Branham, or even Kim Clement came to minister?”
Someone like these giants, not them in person….they’d scare the pants off nearly any Church these days!
People — It’s time for us to raise our Faith levels, raise our trust, and raise our expectations of both God, and whatever we go to Church for.
For far too long, we have watered down just about everything to do with our Faith. We have tried to make things easier for those searching for God.
Our real problem is that we’ve made Church so boring, so same old same old, that newcomers can no longer find God in the Church.
Instead they find a powerless, and pointless social gathering that lacks any real meaning. Shame on us!
God, please give us new fire-brands, new Branhams, new Wigglesworths, new faith filled warriors like those of old — unafraid to do the ‘outrageous’, seeking the unthinkable, believing for the miraculous.
God, set our expectation levels, and our faith, at the levels of these past giants of faith, that we then may stand on their shoulders to reach even greater heights and see the ‘greater things’ Jesus prophesied for us!
AMEN!

Chris Bennett came to salvation in 1962 but didn’t begin ministry until 2007 — a late-comer! Now mandated by The LORD to prophesy and open old wells of revival in the U.K., but especially in Wales. He has also operated Healing Rooms, and worked with deliverance teams, all with his wife, Linda. Happily now doing whatever The LORD asks of them! Founder, with wife Linda, of their ministry The Upper Room Encounter.
Hallelujah! Expecting signs, wonders and miracles with great revival. Great word.
Absolutely true Sir. Let’s learn to believe more in our God who can do anything & everything rather than doubting His power & limiting Him. Yes, HE is ever Present in our gatherings to pour out His Anointing on us if we will let Him have His ways! Help us O’ Lord.
Please Lord, we are starving to death!
