Repent, Repent, and Repent Some More!
“If My People . . . Repent and turn from their wicked ways . . . Heal their land.”
We all know the verse by heart.
We should do — as we quote it often enough!
Yet sometimes I wonder if we actually mean it; if we actually do intend to repent; intend to turn; intend for God to heal our land?
Well, I suppose we do mostly mean that we want Him to do the healing part, but the rest??
You know, sometimes I really do doubt it!
I mean, repent?
Actually, really repent?
And turn from our wicked ways!?!?!?
Yet every single prophet in The Bible, from Moses to John the Baptist, and Jesus Himself, all, without exception, said “Repent!”
And what do we do?
We make excuses, we change the subject, we ignore to sin — after all!
It’s only a little one, isn’t it?
This isn’t going to be my most popular post. In fact it may turn out to be the least liked and most ignored post I ever put up.
Why?
Because I use that old-fashioned, politically incorrect, nay politically abhorrent word, “repent“!
“To repent” means to confess and utter genuinely sorrowful regret for having fallen short of God’s standard that He always expects us to try to achieve.
“To repent” means having to say sorry.
It also means having to turn away from whatever we did wrong in order to try to not do it again.
It’s called sin — because that’s what God calls it — but again, we are using politically sensitive language.
Ironically, “Sin” is almost a sinful word to use.
Yet sin we do, and repent we must, if we are to achieve our wish of persuading God to heal our sick and errant land.
Never in all of history has there been a more appropriate time to preach, “Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand!”
Here we are, on the very cusp of what we say we believe to be the final end-time revival — a time when repentance is so utterly necessary and a requirement -=– and we shrink back from making the call to repent.
What do you expect of God if you continually ignore His perfectly valid commands to us?
We are a rebellious people indeed who ignore God, but still expect Him to honour His promises despite our not honouring Him.
So, I call upon The Church, the whole Church, to repent — for the Kingdom of God is indeed at hand.
We need to repent, repent again, and repent some more, if we are to catch up on our expected and commanded actions in order for God to fulfill His side of the bargain.
Repent for our own personal sin.
Repent for disunity.
Repent for not loving our neighbours as ourselves.
Repent for not feeding the poor, for not sheltering the homeless, for not caring for widows and orphans.
Repent for not bearing fruit — for by their fruit you shall know them.
Repent for unforgiveness.
Must I go on?
Give God at least one valid reason to fulfill His promise to heal our land.
In fear of ‘falling into the hands of an angry God’!
“If My People, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My Face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14.
“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Hebrews 10:31.

[ HKP : “Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, Please pray for Germany. Instead of repenting, some members of the government want to multiply the burden of sin in our country. A law is to be rushed through that eliminates the currently valid abortion rules. If this law goes through, you steal even more children from our Creator. It’s bad enough that you don’t decide anything about a life, but now you invite everyone to erase a life in the making. Unfortunately, abortion is a worldwide issue, but also that children are not valued everywhere. Sometimes I would like to ask, would you like it if you knew your parents wanted to abort you, but today they are overjoyed that you didn’t.” ]
Ha, ha shout it on the rooftops…..preach it in the church……sing it in the choir……repent, repent, repent and Change.
Amen, God bless
Bro, down to the last Word my spirit hears and receives this Word.
Sharing and repenting. How dare the church not!
Thank you, I needed to hear this. I have some repenting to do.
I appreciate this article more than you could imagine.
