A religious spirit is a demonic spirit that influences a person, or group of people, to replace a genuine relationship with God with works and traditions.

These are Individuals who make up their own rules; even twisting the Bible to suit their denomination and other traditions that block those whom they have offered salvation to.

This evil spirit has established non-biblical beliefs and customs for generations through out bloodlines and ancestors of Church families!

Many people can know that they are in the wrong Church and will stay there because their family is there or they fear they will be rejected or even cursed if the leave by their leaders.

Matthew Poole’s Commentary states that a proselyte was one who, coming from some pagan nation, relinquished (ceased) idols, and worshipped one true and living God.

Of these the writers tell us there were two sorts; one that only professed to believe and worship one God, though he did not embrace the Jewish religion: such a one they suffered to live amongst them, and called him a proselyte of the gate.

Others embraced the Jewish religion, and were admitted into their Church, by circumcision, and baptism, and sacrifice (as their writers tell us): these they called proselytes of righteousness.

Our Saviour, saith the scribes and Pharisees, compassed sea and land, that is, would take any pains, (it is a proverbial expression), to make one a proselyte; nor was this blameworthy in them, but that which followeth, that they made him twofold more the child of hell than before; corrupting him with their false doctrine, and setting him examples of an ill life.

Help us Holy Ghost!

Jesus could not have said it better when He said, “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and {when he is made}, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves,” (Matthew 23:15).

But, Christ has called those that will have a relationship with Him both Sons and daughters of God to liberty!

Paul said that I would they were even cut off which trouble you. For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

So many of God’s people have begun to walk in a spirit of religion!

I can remember walking in a spirit of religion thinking like Apostle Paul, I knew God when in fact I did not!

Justifying the flesh and making excuses for my actions instead of being accountable for them — saying thinking’s like, “God knows my heart and He understands and nobody is perfect!” All because the flesh had more control over me than God’s Spirit did!”

The sad thing is like Apostle Paul said in Galatians, “O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?” (Galatians 3:1 KJV)

Yes! That is correct! Who has placed you under a spell that you can continue to lie, backbite, gossip, fornicate, commit adultery, walk in a spirit of manipulation and deception as though you never even knew who Christ truly was in your lives to continue in sin that grace May abound?

And, not only that but some can even go to night clubs, drink and party and come back to the Church after walking hand and hand with the world all night long as though they did nothing at all and take their seat in their positions and wipe their mouth at the table of Christ like Judas as though they NEVER betrayed The LORD!

“For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another,” Galatians 5:14-15.

But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire,” 2 Peter 2:22.

But, I hear The LORD saying, “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall NOT inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.” (Galatians 5:12-18,20-26 KJV)

Remember, their are a lot of conditions here that come with the word, “if!”
