The Reformer and the Reformation!
This morning in my quite time, I heard these words:
“The ongoing reformation is all about Jesus and not self!
Jesus is the central focus of it. He is the model and the role model.
Do not take yourself too seriously, take Jesus seriously. Nothing of self should surface.
Jesus himself attested to this when He said: “And I, if I.”
“and I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me,” John 12:32.
Every reformation of the believer must be towards Jesus. Let no man seek to make a name out of it! It’s all about Jesus and He alone!
The reformation is towards Jesus and not any man or the personality of the preacher.
Do not seek to be heard, instead seek that the voice of Jesus be heard through your voice.
It’s all about Jesus and My People must understand this. It is either Jesus or no one else!
There is no other option given!
Jesus is the image of the invisible God. If it is not Him then it is not God.
You can only measure that which is of God by measuring it with Jesus.
If it is Jesus, then will the father be pleased.
The reformation is “All about Jesus!” this is how you will know a reformation that is of me – it’s all about Jesus and not self!”
No reformation which is of God is insultive or abusive!
The reformer must not be a novice in the doctrine of Jesus Christ. Any man can preach, but not all preachers are in tune and able to rightly divide the Word of God.
The apostles were very keen about this:
“Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of john, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection,” Acts 1:21-22.
Even the apostle paul’s experience followed this laid out pattern set by the apostolic leadership
“Am I not an apostle? Am I not free? Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? Are not ye my work in the Lord?” 1 Corinthians 9:1.
Barnabas attested to paul’s personal experience of having seen Jesus:
“But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to Him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus,” Acts 9:27.
Paul both saw and heard Jesus speak to him.. (intimacy) and most of his letters and revelation to the churches were born from deep level of intimacy.
Intimacy with the lord is the mark of a true apostle and reformer not just been able to argue and debate with the Word!
Jesus is the architectural design of God’s Master Plan…. And it behoves that the reformer must have personally experienced him beyond salvation for this is the first step towards that experience!
Those who do not have this experience tend to miss the purpose of it.
The reformation is geared towards making the present church the church of Jesus Christ and this can only be when we have a more personal experience through intimacy with Jesus Christ.
