Receive — Receive The Holy Spirit!
A Holy Spirit Special
At this time the battle is really tough in The Spirit.
You cannot at this time just hold on to a promise, but cling to Jesus. See Him as The Salvation, and lay hold of Him.
No matter how clearly The Word of God talks of the Baptism of The Holy Spirit, a lot of people just don’t seem to get it.
I have had to do a lot of convincing people through The Word, why they cannot do without The Holy Spirit if they desire a successful walk with The LORD here on earth.
After much persuasion, many would receive Him and they would be so exciting, exuding with life and wondering what they would have done if they had not received Him.
This is the period, The Church is remembering through Pentecost the promise of The Holy Spirit given to us.
Hence, I felt led to share this short Word for many out there who may have questions, and to urge as many people as possible to seek this unspeakable gift.
In Acts 8:5-17 (below) the scriptures clearly show us that baptism of The Holy Spirit is different from been baptized in the name of Jesus or being born again.
First we hear that Philip, after The Holy Spirit was given in Acts chapter two, went to preach to the people at Samaria. The Word of God clearly shows us the message he went there to preach.
It says, he went to preach Christ….
“Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them,” Acts 8:5.
They are different kinds of preaching in The Word of God.
- There is the preaching of Moses, (The Law).
“For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day,” Acts 15:21.
- There is the preaching of the baptism of John, (Repent and believe on Him that was to come).
“This man was instructed in the way of The LORD; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of The LORD, knowing only the baptism of John,” Acts 18:25.
- There is the Preaching of Christ the resurrected.
“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures,” 1 Corinthians 15:4-5.
So Philip preached the accurate word of God to the people of Samaria which is the preaching of Christ.
We are told in the verse below, their response.
“But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women,” Acts 8:12 emphasis added.
They believed in the name of Jesus Christ and were genuinely born again. Baptized in The Name of Jesus Christ!
Many of us will think this is enough, but look at what the scriptures say was the next step the Apostle took these believers through;
“Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost,” Acts 8:14-15 emphasis added.
You need someone to help you disbelieve this. This is so clear and simple as it can get. The Word says as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the Sons of God, (John 1:12).
When the apostles heard that the people in Samaria had believed, they sent Peter and John to go and pray for these believers to receive the baptism of The Holy Spirit.
Oh it doesn’t stop there; the reason is very well explained in the following verse;
“For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of The LORD Jesus,” Acts 8:16.
They believed and were baptized in The Name of The LORD Jesus, but The Holy Spirit had not fallen upon them yet.
They desired that these believers receive power from on high. Without Him, they were powerless in executing God’s Will,
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth,” Acts 1:8.
You need him, you ought to have him, and you dare not miss out. The LORD wants to pour out The Holy Spirit upon you even now more than you do
Look at what He says;
“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give The Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?” Luke 11:13.
Just dare to believe. Dare to ask your father of this unspeakable gift and receive him right where you are.
Pray with me below:
Father, I thank you that You love me. I thank You that You sent Your Son to die for all my sins and was raised from the dead, qualifying me for this inheritance.
By faith, I ask today that you baptize me with Your Holy Spirit.
I believe. I receive the gift of The Holy Spirit with tongues accompanying.
Welcome Holy Spirit. Thank you father, In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
In an encounter with The LORD, I saw a person skating smoothly on a tarred road. Then I heard The LORD say, “Have it the way you want….”
The Holy Spirit witnessed;
“I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: and I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, The LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel,” Isaiah 45:2.
Then The LORD said, “I AM in and with you. I AM in you, but I have also gone before you.
I have made your path smooth, for I have destroyed the works of darkness and made a way for you. Mount up with wings and fly, for you have risen in the things of the spirit.
I have open doors where you have not expected, and treasures, riches you never dreamed of have been sent to you.
Be expectant, be hopeful, and look out with faith for I have done this to demonstrate My righteousness and faithfulness to My Word.
In this time you will know that I AM unto you, GOD.”
“5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. 6 And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. 7 For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. 8 And there was great joy in that city.
9 But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously practiced sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great, 10 to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is the great power of God.” 11 And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time. 12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized. 13 Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done.
14 Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, 15 who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. 16 For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit,” Acts 8:5-17.
