“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus,” Philippians 3:13-14.

I’m certain that many of us have perhaps looked ahead… while reading a book.

Maybe some have wanted to know how a story ends and comes to completion. We are a curious people, always wanted to see what may develop ahead in the future.

There are reasons that God doesn’t disclose everything to us; some of it is simply for our protection, and also we as a people could easily get discouraged, overwhelmed, or fearful of what may lie ahead.

While it is true that many things are disclosed to those who are called as prophets and apostles, much of it is a puzzle piece that only fits together as the rest of the pieces are assembled together. None of us have the complete picture; we only see in part and prophesy in part.

And yet in saying these things, it is important that especially when the scenario around us appears to be hopeless or dark, that if we turned the pages and started the next chapter of the book, we would see that everything that we once thought was true has now changed.

We do know how the book ends for us, as it shows that the forces of darkness are defeated by the Rider on the White Horse. We also win with Him…. as we join in that Army of Heaven.

But as we should know, the days and hours will get darker when we approach that last chapter of the book.

The characters and personalities in the book become clearer and their actions will display what will come forth in those days ahead.

So, while it’s good to live in such a way that we are aware of what is going on around us, we need to keep looking ahead for that only blessed hope that we have.

We look towards that hope even though the darkness will increase, and deceitfulness will come.

Go ahead and leaf through those pages ahead, but remember that we can’t live them until we actually approach them. But live with the thought of tomorrow and the hope for eternity ahead.
