A tragic and disturbing incident came to my attention recently.

A pastor told a brother that he ‘saw’ him dying within 11 days and demanded a seed of ₦250,000 (160USD) to avert the supposed death.

After collecting the money, he handed him a “back-to-sender” ring.

This same pastor now sells “holy water” and “anointing oil,” turning the sacred into a marketplace.

This is not ministry — it’s manipulation!

This is not prophecy — it’s profiteering!

This is not The Gospel — it’s greed!

How did we get here?

The answer is simple but heartbreaking: many pastors have abandoned the preaching and teaching of sound doctrine. Instead of raising disciples grounded in The Word, many have become self-styled miracle merchants, leaving their flocks vulnerable to spiritual con artists.

What happened to Jesus’ charge to “feed my sheep”?

What happened to the simple and powerful Gospel that saves, heals, and delivers without strings attached?

We must wake up!

The Church is becoming a marketplace, and people are perishing for lack of knowledge.

Pastors who use fear to extort their members are wolves, not shepherds — and sadly, they thrive because many Christians have been conditioned to seek miracles rather than the Word.

Here’s the truth: you cannot buy your way out of death, curses, or calamities.

Jesus paid it all on The Cross.

Your safety is in Him alone, not in rings, water, oil, or any so-called “prophetic seed.”

Beware of anyone who weaponizes fear to enrich themselves.

Pastors, return to the Word. Preach the truth. Teach sound doctrine. Equip your members to discern these wolves and stand firm in Christ.

Believers, stop running from pillar to post. Stop idolizing men. Seek Jesus, study His Word, and grow in your faith.

Only then will you be protected from the schemes of these false shepherds.

Enough is enough! It’s time for Revival — and that starts with a return to Truth.
