Prophets then and now
The preciseness and accuracy of the Prophets of God was so amazing. Their words held such an impact upon the leaders and a nation that when they appeared the people trembled because they knew that they were coming because The Lord sent them.
Prophets were not sought out to find out about material wealth or gain, but they came to them for direction instructions guidance wisdom and knowledge. When God sent them it was because the leaders had done something wrong and had cause the people to error or the people had begin to sin and cause shame to His name.
They were sent to anoint and announce who would be king, or who would no longer reign. Prophets were not loved or liked, but they were respected and honored. They didn’t make themselves easily accessible, and God covered them from their enemies.
God warned them of danger. He would reveal persons before they even came before them. He warned them about the hearts of those who would stand before them.
True Prophets walk in such a reverence of God that they feared speaking anything that was not of Him. They spoke exactly what He said without adding or subtracting any of the words. They were chosen by God and assigned to certain regions leadership and nations.
They understood that obedience was a important key to them being pleasing to God and that they were subject to judgment which could include death if they disobeyed or spoke what God had not said.
People today that claim to be Prophets don’t take the office or The Lord seriously. They speak lies and deceit, use the gift God has given them for greedy gain, and are not afraid to stand before God unholy and ungodly.
Being a Prophet in this hour is not about speaking what, “thus saith The Lord,” but it’s about gaining fame and collecting a fortune by speaking what entertains the people and satisfies their flesh.
If you are called to be a Prophet, you are called to speak to the presidents, kings, governmental officials. To speak to nations as a whole, to give warnings and instructions both collectively and individually, when the person has influence over the people.
Their gift wasn’t used to put on a spectacular show to prove they were real, but when God spoke in detail and accuracy, it was to just tell the person or nation, that this is what’s going to happen and how it would happen.
Prophets came, delivered the message, and went on about their business. They didn’t care if the people received it or rejected it, they didn’t try to hang around to see if it would come to pass, they just obeyed God, because they knew that what He had put in their mouth to speak, would happen, expect when God changed His mind because the person or nation repented, like He did Nineveh when Jonah brought the word of destruction. He is the only one who can change what He has spoken.
Today, I pray that those who are called as Prophets, or those used to prophesying, would understand the seriousness and importance of what they are doing, and not allow themselves to be overtaken by greed and fame. It’s important that in this season, if you speak as God’s mouthpiece, that you don’t allow lies and deception to come forth from your mouth!
He is not taking lightly those that presume to speak in His name, when He has not spoken!
