Prayer is Serious Business
You probably have heard me teach and preach that life is not all about prayers, but however, Prayer is serious business.
I recall saying that everything in life has its proper place and as such one should not magnify any above the other but still, Prayer is serious business!
I remember preaching at a church program a couple of months back where I said to the congregants that prayer is not ‘The Master Key’ as is been popularly preached, held and believed by some departments (members) of the body of Jesus Christ.
This statement was greeted with raised eyebrows, because it contradicts everything they have been possibly taught. Jesus never gave a master key, He gave us KEYS which the Kingdom operates by!
“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the KEYS of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven,” Matthew 16:18-19
The word ‘Key’ is referenced to mean ‘principles,’ by which the kingdom operates and prayer is one of them; therefore, Prayer is serious business!
It is through the instrument of prayers that we bring the Kingdom of God to the earth and dethrone Satanic holds over jurisdictions, pull down and take into captivity every thought that exalts itself above the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
In our destiny walk, we can not undermine the place of prayers. Destiny is the meeting point between the forces of good and evil and if this is so, then prayer is a necessary weaponry tool with which we can withstand and engage the enemy in battle.
The believer’s life is a life of battle; contending for that which was promised!
However though, we must embrace this wholesome truth that, there are certain ingredients that makes prayer effective –
- FAITH
- THE WORD
- PERSISTENCE
FAITH:
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him,” Hebrews 11:6.
Faith is a universal currency that commands the same value in any nation of the earth. Faith gives you the same result in Nigeria and in Bangladesh!
THE WORD:
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God,” Romans 10:17.
It is important to know that, Faith is not self existent nor sufficient neither can it sustain itself.
Faith and the Word are a twin combo; wherever you find the Word, you will equally find Faith!
Faith is a product of the Word! You can never have the Word and lack Faith.
The Word births Faith! Whenever you feel your faith is becoming weak, revert to the Word of God and Faith will spurn back into action.
PERSISTENCE:
“And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:1–8.
Persistence is the proof of the availability of Faith! It is that attitude of never giving up against all odds till that which is desired is acquired!
Abraham was not just a man of faith but also of the Word of God. This is evidenced by the fact that, despite all odds he STILL believed in the promise of God.
“(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness,” Romans 4:17–22.
Jesus’ greatest concern is that, faith might have extinct before His arrival. In actual sense, what really extincts is not FAITH but the WORD and this generation is tip toeing to the paths of His worst worry!
We live in a generation that has no value for the Word but the world!
