As Christians, we are required to pray for our leaders and our country. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 says “I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, be made for all men; for kings and all that are in high place; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and gravity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; who would have all men to be saved, and come to the knowledge of the truth.”

This (Part 2) prayer is a specific strategic prayer for an individual in power in your country. After praying Part 1, this prayer allows you to address particular individuals and the Offices he or she holds in your country, such that the Lord will change this person and use them for His Kingdom use.

Heavenly Father,

I come before you again with my head bowed low and my hands open. Your Words of 1 Timothy 2:1-4 have been impressed on my heart and I now come to pray for the individuals of our government by name and the Offices they hold. I come before You Lord, to stand in the gap between my country and You, to intercede on behalf of _country_, that it shall not be destroyed, but healed and prospered. Use me Lord, that _country_ will escape your wrath; that _country_ will find Your Peace and Your Grace and be set free in Christ. Let me move in my priestly role as an intercessor, enforcing the victory of Jesus in _country_ and representing and administering the blessings of the new covenant.

Lord, I bring before you __name__ of the __institution__ who acts as the role of __role__ over this country. I ask and pray that the Holy Spirit will now be released as I pray, to go and hover over and around __name__, bringing forth Christ in this man/woman.

In the name of Jesus Christ,

I bind ____’s body, soul and spirit to the will and purposes of God for all of his/her life.

I bind ____’s mind, will and emotions to the will of God.

I bind him/her to the Truth and to the Blood of Jesus.

I bind his/her mind to the mind of Christ; that the very thoughts, feelings and purposes of Christ’s heart will be within ____’s thoughts at all times.

I bind ____’s feet to the paths of righteousness so that his/her steps would be steady and sure and following in Your sovereign will.

I bind him/her to the work of the cross, with all its mercy, grace, love, forgiveness and dying to self.

I bind the spirit of unbelief in ____ which keeps him/her from believing and trusting in You and acting on Your logos and rhēma word.

I bind all powers and principalities which rule over _____’s Office and which stop him/her from doing that which his/her conscience and Your voice requires and that which his/her Office requires; to do justly, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with You.

In the name of Jesus Christ,

I loose and remove the scales from his/her eyes which keeps ____ from seeing Your works, Your Words and Your Truth in this world. Give him/her eyes which see the world as You wish him/her to see it, so he/she may recognise the errors his/her past ways and the errors of those who previously held this Office.

I loose and remove the deafness from his/her ears which keeps ____ from hearing Your Words and Your Truth in this world and from hearing the True words of advice from Your saints. I pray he/she will now have ears which will now hear the cries of the downtrodden, the dispossessed, the forgotten, the widows and the orphans in our country.

I loose all the bondage of the enemy which has been placed around ____ to keep him/her from stepping out and acting out in the Faith of Christ and in the Holy Spirit.

Father,

I pray that you will give ____ a new heart, a heart which beats for You and You alone.

I pray that you will give ____ a heart for justice, that Your justice will prevail in all his/her future works for our country. As Zacchaeus stood and said to Lord Jesus, “Behold, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor, and if I have wrongfully exacted anything from any man, I restore it fourfold,” I pray that ______ will become just like Zacchaeus, in heart, in mind and in deed.

I pray that your destiny for _____ and his/her part in Your Kingdom will be fulfilled to Your prefect plan and to Your prefect timing, as You release Your will and word and blessings into his/her life.

Father, as _____ goes about his/her business in future, let all he/she thinks, says and does be in line with your divine will, and that in this, You will bless him/her mightily. Please let _____ be changed that it will be to Your glory to have victory through him/her and bring this country into alignment with Your Kingdom through him/her.

Oh Lord, let all the glory be Yours and Yours alone!!
