Popularity -versus- A Charge to Preach
Apostle Paul was a man who had come from a religious background of doing things his own way.
He thought what he was doing was biblically correct — hauling men and women of God off to prison.
In fact, Paul was like many of us today who have a zeal but not according to knowledge.
For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God, (Romans 10:2-3).
Saul, who was later given the name Paul, was marked by a life of violence and relentless persecution of the early church.
However, his parents who were Pharisees and who raised Saul as a fervent Jewish nationalist, adhered to the strict Laws of Moses and no doubt did everything to protect him from the Gentiles who were considered contaminated. Which no doubt started Saul on a journey of hate, racism and self-righteousness.
Isn’t it ironic how one can be raised to think that what one is doing is right, when in fact it is wrong?
But like Saul, many of us have never questioned if our salvation, or what we believe in, is right or wrong, because parents know best. Right?
But I believe that in this season, God is calling His People into a deep place to examine their faith and to see if what we have been taught over the years, is in fact true doctrine.
Saul’s family were true Roman citizens who believed that Jerusalem was a holy and sacred city.
Like many of us today, we view our denominations and religions as being (the truth and the only truth) sacred, because our families have told us this is the way and there is no other way.
This can be true and yet not true, because God is the one who gives us the keys of both knowledge and wisdom to gain spiritual revelation of what the true counsel of His heart, truly is.
For the scripture notes that now we see through a glass, darkly — but then face to face — now I know in part — but then shall I know even as also I am known, (1 Corinthians 13:12).
In other words, no one has the entire revelation of Christ’s heart, and because we are yet learning Him and coming into the full knowledge of Who He is and who we are in Him, we must be open to scripture and the interpretation of scripture without being fooled or bamboozled.
For whom shall he teach knowledge? And whom shall he make to understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept — line upon line, line upon line — here a little, and there a little — for with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear, (Isaiah 28:9-12 KJV)
Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love, (Ephesians 4:8-14,16 KJV)
Saul whose name was turned into Paul to reflect his new born conversion, realized he had part of The Law but something was still missing from his walk in God!
But, because God looked down from heaven to see that this man Saul had some true gold of courage, boldness, and he was such a warrior called him into the light (from darkness) to make him a chosen vessel unto him.
The LORD I believe knew that if Saul was this dedicated to Satan how much more would he be for the kingdom of God for His name sake!
Paul said, “when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood — neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me — but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode m with him fifteen days,” (Galatians 1:11-18 KJV)
Paul was not called to be an apostle because he desired the popularity of man or because he wanted to sit among those in the high seat, but he was set apart to be a chosen vessel of God to bring glory to God’s Kingdom!
Many in this season who are considered nobodies, will be called, set aside to be chosen vessels unto The LORD for such a time as this.
Instead of going to sit in the high seat to learn from man, God himself shall give them the counsel of His heart as He did Paul when he went up to Arabia before returning to Damascus. Why?
Because, I believe The LORD wanted to teach and to prepare Paul for His assignment and His mandate to begin to preach the gospel of Christ!
It’s okay to sit among great leaders but your greatest revelations will not come from man; but from God himself!
And, this is why Apostle Paul was no longer zealous to please man as in time past but instead he wanted God himself to teach him of the true understanding of what the gospel was and who he was in God as an Apostle.
No! He didn’t run to the pulpit but he ran to the wilderness to spend some time with God so he could be taught and instructed by God of who he was going to become in him to save the lives of many; even the gentiles.
In fact, the point Paul was making here is that he had been given a charge to preach the gospel not as the other apostles who were called.
He said to the Galatians that the same gospel that the others had been called to preach was also laid upon him but the process of that call was unlike those of the other apostles because God had directly trained him.
For the same Christ that had taught Peter, and the other disciples had also taught him too but in a different process!
Oh how we judge others who have not been called like we have but Jesus said to the disciples when they saw some casting out demons in His name; if they are not against us they must be for us.
Leave them alone for no man can do a miracle in my name speak bad of me! For if they are not against us they must be for us! (Mark 9:38-40)
~ Apostle Geraldine Fisher
Apostle Geraldine Fisher has a World-Wide-Social Media Net-Work Ministry. As a Missionary, God moved her into the Office of a Prophet, revealing to her the qualities of a True prophet, humility, humiliation, loving others, interceding in prayer, as she keeps her own life clean to accurately hear from God. Since hearing the audible voice of God calling her to ministry, she’s been called to intercede and pray for others in ministry as God speaks, instructs, directs and gives prophetic words for her to give to others. God promised He would bring her to sit and to learn before great men, all of which He did!
Amazing. Thank you sister.
