Personal Talks with the Master
Colossians 3:5 ESV “Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.”
Jonah 2:8 ESV “Those who pay regard to vain idols forsake their hope of steadfast love.”
Idolatry is alive and well, subtlety moving throughout the body of Christ. This is why the Lord has been speaking to us about the process that is necessary for many to go through now. It is vital because it can cause us to miss signals, gentle nudges and even to be unaware of the Father’s whisper for us to come in so He can talk to us. This is why through our lives He has been pruning us, purifying us, sanctifying us, and even severing ties with that which has distracted us from His presence.
DEFINITION: Idolatry — giving honor & regard to created forms other than God. Extreme admiration, love for a revered object. One who has an immoderate attachment or devotion to a thing.
Who are you devoted to? What are you attached to? What do you regard more than anything? We respond quickly to others, the Lord God Almighty, but the fact is when something is bothering us or when we have to deal with things that have gotten our attention — we don’t even take those things to God. If the Lord is truly in our lives how do we manage things without Him and then when the situation goes south — “We cry out, Oh Lord.”
It is one thing when the atmosphere is charged —> when we hear shouts of praise and hallelujah —> we can say, “It’s Jesus.” But when no one is watching and the silence of the day has enveloped our souls — do we turn to Him?
The Lord says : It’s time to remove the high places from around us. When we place Him in the proper place where He should be –> Then we will be positioned properly where we need to be.
