Overcomers in Prayer
“And they overcame him by The Blood of The Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” Revelation 12:11
In some recent short articles, I scratched the surface on the subject of Prayer.
Have we lost both the art of Prayer, and the practice of Prayer — looking at the subject from different angles?
Now I am exploring ways forward that open the door, to not just a meaningful Prayer, but also to an achievable active corporate “team” Prayer life.
“And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with The Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.” Acts 4:31
Let me start by asking, when was the last time the place in which you were praying was physically shaken”
That would be really something wouldn’t it?
I only know, or have only read, of one documented occasion when this happened. It was in the Hebridean Revival of 1948/9.
The people praying thought there had been an earthquake, but if that was so, then it was so localised as to only have affected one property!
Yet, just imagine what our Prayer life could be like if we were to take all the promises of the Bible literally?
Anything you ask, or, ask and it shall be given to you, and many others too. How about if we too ‘plead The Blood of The Lamb’?
Imagine lack being a thing of the past, or sickness being banished? How about things “on earth as it is in heaven “?
How about if our testimony of answered Prayers, of God’s fulfilled promises, so spoke to the world?
Do you not think that, just perhaps, the world might stop and actually pay attention?
The testimony of Prayer through the centuries surely demands our attention.
The testimony of today’s answered Prayers surely compels us to take this thing more seriously than ever before. In the parlous state of today’s world, we are being urged to pray as never before, yet I fear that we do not believe our own publicity.
The Church generally prays little but ‘me me’ or ‘us us’ Prayers, so it receives little.
Just imagine if we prayed much broader, wider scope Prayers — what could we see God doing in our time?
Indeed, what could the effect be on society, on our families, our streets, our towns, and our countries?
Then we would even fulfill Revelation 12:11.
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” Revelation 12:11
Isn’t it time for us to be overcomers in Prayer, rather than just beggars.
The time of praying ‘we four and no more’ Prayers is so far past it’s sell-by date, and we need to pray more ‘common good’ Prayers for everyone around us, as well as those beyond our reach.
God is listening for our selfless Prayers and our outward focus, much more than He’s listening to our shopping lists.
There is a time and place for your shopping list but, when you pray like that, use your faith — expect God to answer — He doesn’t need reminding every time.
Be like the boy with the umbrella. If you pray for rain — expect and anticipate rain!

Amen Hallelujah Yes Amen
Amen
We thirst for Him as it is written, but oh, to have that scale of Prayer would quench every area of our lives.
Yes my face is set toward His, like a flint in the darkness seeking like minded people.
Let our eyes & ears behold Oneness & demonstrate His Kingdom in the earth in Jesus name.
Amem
Amen! Thank you for the message. Indeed I need the art of prayer, as well as the practice of prayer.
Amen – God’s man of Wales. To speak about prayer that ’cause’ a physical ‘shaking’ – the kind of prayer that changes the structure/s of things around us that we most commonly consider unmovable. I’m reminded of Isaiah 6:4 – Pray Church.
Thank you for your always encouraging comments. They are very much appreciated.
God bless you
Oh the feeling is mutual – man of God. God’s best to you and family!
