We must be careful not to put God in a box on how we should handle a matter of confrontation from the enemy. You might say what does that mean? Well when Elijah was confronted by the prophets of Baal, He followed a very unconventional course. (read 1 King 18:20-39)

The prophets of Baal were 450 and here they were ready to face off with Elijah as to who’s God was greater. Elijah (who walked in the moment) knew exactly what to do (because of the longstanding relationship he had with God). He told them to call on the name of your God and I will call on the name of the Lord and whoever answers by fire will be God.

Then he says to them prepare two bullocks and take it and I will take the other then he says but do not put fire under it, and I believe at that point, they became concerned. Elijah went on to water down his altar not once not twice but three times and I can imagine the prophets of Baal talking to themselves saying, what is he doing? How is he going to get fire out of water?

The enemy is looking at you right now thinking that he has you in the right place at the right time. He is waiting for your demise. But the faith in your God is about to be demonstrated. God is getting ready to show up and show out and He’s coming by FIRE!!

You might be saying to yourself well all I got is this little place of prayer, my time of fellowship with the Lord, it has been watered by my tears in prayer and supplication. He has spoken to you and you have obeyed. Look again because the answer is coming down out of the heavenlies.

This time it didn’t come from the water, but it came by fire that he might consume some things for once and for all. It came in the fire so that all may know that Our God is a consuming fire!!!
