One’s Misfortune Can Become Another’s Treasure!
As I was praying and meditating regarding a issue, the LORD spoke to me with a sign of a referee which was the “timeout sign!”
As He began to speak to me, He had me to read the book of Vashti.
I said, “LORD, what is so significant about this portion of scripture?” He said to me that disobedience and a lack of honor can be a great factor in whether we are honored or rejected in this season!
He said it will determine whether we are elevated or demoted in the Kingdom of God!
You see, many times God can have something in mind for His People, but because they have begun to walk in their own ways instead of the ways of God, we can miss out on a kairos moment to both destiny and purpose! Just as Vashti did!
Vashti was Queen of Persia and the first wife of Persian King Ahasuerus in the Book of Esther, who decided she would go against the tradition of the king!
It was very customary for the queen to honor her husband; even though it seemed as though what he was asking was some what foolish, yet it was her job and customary for her to obey!
You see, the king was drinking and probably acting foolishly, but it was according to the law; none did compel: for so the king had appointed to all the officers of his house, that they should do according to every man’s pleasure.
Also Vashti the queen made a feast for the women in the royal house which belonged to king Ahasuerus. On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, and Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, the seven chamberlains that served in the presence of Ahasuerus the king, to bring Vashti the queen before the king with the crown royal, to shew the people and the princes her beauty: for she was fair to look on.
But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s commandment by his chamberlains: therefore was the king very wroth, and his anger burned in him, (Esther 1:8-12 KJV)
Help us Holy Ghost! It is a hard thing when we as the people of God are picked out to be picked on to do a thing that goes against our very nature (example Vashti to show off her beauty in the presence of the other men) but many times God will test and try our hearts to see if we will obey him or others in authority to see if you are obedient or not!
This is all apart of the process when God is calling us into a new season of elevation in our lives!
Vashti did not want to obey the call or the tradition of her husband and so she missed out on being elevated on the right hand of the king!
She was not willing to surrender Who she felt a wife should be. She was not willing to make the sacrifice and neither was she willing to answer the call!
Their was nothing unusual about the King showing off the beauty of his bride! But, to her she saw it as being distasteful and dishonorable.
But, I here God saying to His People, “What are you holding on to that is stopping you from entering your new season of elevation?”
What is it that King Jesus is asking you to relinquish, that you feel you are not ready to release it this season?
The LORD is going to cause many of you to relinquish things that you hold dear, but they are not good for where He is taking you in this season.
Vashti did not want to relinquish her pride to humble herself in the sight of her husband, but she proved her pride meant more to her than the request of her husband!
Get ready! God is going to cause many of you to die to your own vision in this season and you are going to be between a rock and a hard place in this season just as Queen Vashti was!
Queen Vashti could have had it all but she valued her pride of being right more than she did the throne and sitting on the right hand of her King!
God is asking his people in this season, what do you value that takes presidency over your destiny and the purpose God has for you?
What is it that God is telling you to let go of, but you have continued to hold on to?
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” Mark 8:37-38 KJV.
Queen Vashti missed out on not only the husband God had for her but she ended up missing out on a position, title and a kingdom that God had for her because she couldn’t get past her carnal state of mind of what it took to be the King’s wife!
Are you doing the same thing? Is there a new season and elevation that God wants to release in your life but you are refusing to die to your own vision; rather than accepting what God has for you?
However; it was said what shall we do unto the queen Vashti according to law, because she hath not performed the commandment of the king Ahasuerus by the chamberlains?
And Memucan answered before the king and the princes, Vashti the queen hath not done wrong to the king only, but also to all the princes, and to all the people that are in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus.
For this deed of the queen shall come abroad unto all women, so that they shall despise their husbands in their eyes, when it shall be reported, the king Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she came not.
If it please the king, let there go a royal commandment from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be not altered, that Vashti come no more before king Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she, (Esther 1:15-17,19 KJV)
God is speaking loud and clear in this season that it is time for those that God has called to the royal banquet like he did Vashti, to make up in their minds they are ready to die to their own vision in order that the perfect will of God be done in their lives!
Jesus asked Peter several times do you love me Peter? Not only did he ask him once but three times!
Jesus was emphasizing the importance of Peter’s love and unswerving obedience to his LORD as necessary for his future ministry and his position.
Jesus begins by questioning Peter about His love for Him, and each time Peter answers in the affirmative, Jesus follows up with the command for Peter to feed His sheep (John 21:15–17).
Peter responded with “Yes, LORD; you know that I love you,” Unlike Queen Vashti
Peter was ready to take on both the role and the responsibility of being Christ’s right hand man!
What is your answer?
