Obsessing over our failures…
Obsessing over our failures in applying the moral code to our lives turns the Good News into just another system of “ifs” and “thens.”
IF you are faithful in your perfectionism, THEN you will be worthy of relationship and the Father will not turn His face from you.
Jesus didn’t die so we could get right by the moral code. He died because He knew we never could.
“There is none righteous, no, not one,” Romans 3:10.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord,” Romans 6:23.
“Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned,” Romans 5:12.
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us,” Romans 5:8.
“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),” Ephesians 2:4-5.
