Obey God First!
No doubt there will be many who will say: ‘Does not The Bible say that people must obey the laws of the land?…..”
So, in the light of this teaching [found in The Word of God] is there a time when men must obey God first, then after that men’s laws?
Of course, there must be, for even Jesus himself was at defiance to the laws of the land. He was taken and crucified for such…. and, when the apostles were told they could not preach any longer in the name of Jesus… they did refuse their orders from the governing authorities.
They were beaten with many stripes, put in prison, etc. — but they went back preaching…
Then would Jesus and the apostles be called out of order for not complying with the man made orders?
Of course not!
When in the case of men commanding other men against Gods laws, then men must obey God….
First.. and above all.
Further, consider this. We are told that even Jesus said: “Give unto Cesar the things that are Cesar’s but unto God, the things that are God’s.”
There are things men must obey, that are not against God’s Laws, and in this event we are told by Jesus to obey the laws. But, when an order goes against Gods truth and teachings…
Even Jesus would not obey men.
Note this: The perilous times of the end will be greatly enhanced when believers in Jesus Christ and The Word of God, will not obey men.
Then the conflict will be greatly charged, and will become very heated and terrible.
Consider these verses:
“… and they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said unto them, whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard,” Acts 4:18-20.
“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, o Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, o king.
But if not, be it known unto thee, o king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated. And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace,” Daniel 3:16-20.
We all know how the fiery furnace ended… a fourth man came and walked with them in the fire, and they were not killed!
