Not by Works of Righteousness…
The Scripture to use to speak to people who are preaching that men are [saved by doing good works] is:
“But after that, the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His Mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of The Holy Ghost, which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour, that being justified by His Grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:4-7 emphasis added.
When men eventually stand before God to be judged, as to who is truly saved, many will say, “We did many wonderful works, even cast out devils in the name of Jesus…”
Then they will be told, “I never knew you!”
What… someone said! Never knew them???
Well the fact is, a person must have Jesus Christ as Savior to be one whom Jesus will know on that day.
Jesus is only received by “Mercy” and “Grace“.
Jesus Christ died to justify men from sin — by Grace!
Many think that by doing good works etc, they will be justified before God. But… No!
The scriptures tell us that men are Justified by Grace… The Grace of Jesus Christ who did die to save men, and by His Own Blood, He purchased men, and gave those who are saved, Eternal Life.
This life was only given, by Grace.
