Noah Built the Ark — One Day at a Time
Noah built The Ark — one day at a time….
And each day he built on it, he did only what The LORD said do, and Noah evidently did it only as God provided him materials to build with.
Nothing is said about Noah’s building, or even how he built it. The only thing mentioned was The LORD told him with what kind of wood to build and about the need to pitch the cracks to make the proposed Ark float without water leaks.
But nothing else is said.
Exactly how did Noah do his work?
How did he go move large timbers needed to build with into the desert?
With what tools did he do the work?
How did he work without any help?
I suspect that God told Noah exactly what to build and with what, etc, daily. And if Noah had help, The LORD sent someone by to help him.
But the scriptures are silent about the details. All it says is: Noah moved with fear and built The Ark.
It was Noah who was moved. Noah did fear The LORD and Noah did understand that what God told him about a flood was coming, and all men would perish outside The Ark. That would be enough to move any man to fear.
But the fear Noah had was not fear… Fear! For Noah was not afraid. But the fear was more like respect in the knowledge that God would do what he said he would do — God would send the flood — as He said!
So exactly how did Noah do his work and who helped him? It is understandable to me that Noah could not have done it all alone. Building a large wooden structure is hard work. How could one man lift all those heavy logs and constructed walls into place?
No doubt that Noah had people who came offering to help, but Noah could not use their help, because they would not follow the orders of Noah.
You must understand that Noah had to follow daily The LORD’s commands himself, then Noah had to command the helpers on what to do….
it is very understandable to me [having built things at God’s commands] that many will not understand God’s way of building. Many, no doubt would, argue and debate with Noah on how to build.
It would become such a problem [all the critical help and other ideas of building contrary to what God had told Noah] that Noah would mostly have to work alone, because nobody would stay and work God’s way!
Did Noah then hire help to build? If he did, again The Bible does not say anything about that. Then, if he did hire help, with what did Noah pay them? Was Noah rich? Did he have millions in the “Bank” which he could draw from at payday? This is a very serious question, how did he hire help?
Did Noah have men come that wanted to help for free and would donate their work to God [or do it for God}? If so, the bible does not say anything about that leaving the question again unanswered.
Why was the scripture silent?
In one way it was not silent, but speaks loudly!
If someone had come to help, it makes sense that they would have stayed [after the building of The Ark] and would have been in The Ark and saved!
Well, we have the only record of 8 souls, [including Noah] who lived through the flood safely. One was his wife. The others were his children [sons and their wives].
This leaves the question then, was his wife a heavyweight woman with great strength and could have lifted large weights easily?
And if the others helped they must of been quite a family! How old were the boys, the scripture again is silent in a large degree on this question.
Just who helped Noah? Did the animals come and help Noah? Perhaps God sent the animals [like elephants] to lift the loads? Again the bible is silent about any animals helping out.
What I am getting at, is how would you build an Ark in the middle of the desert without all the materials you needed, and without all the help you needed?
Would you even be able to do it? Yet Noah did it…. and The Ark floated! Praise The LORD.
I ask these questions, because I heard God say to me, “You will be like Noah and build…”.
I was blessed at first with the idea, that God would let me build such a Ark. As I begin to move into the actual building all the above questions did come up. Quickly I came see that Noah could not have done it by himself.
How then, I asked The LORD, can I do this work?
To this question He keeps saying, “One day at a time,” and, “Do it the way I tell you to do it!”
Okay, I was so glad to hear this! Then another question came up. With what will I build? Again, He said, “I will send people to help.”
The conclusion then was: If I follow The LORD every day [which I have been working diligently to do with great care and effort] then the work would get done. Daily.
So, I have worked daily with that which The LORD send daily to help me. This is working but………….
It is slow.
How many of you know that God is never late and always on time? Yet to most of us who wait upon Him, He seems late!
He seems slow! His timing is not our timing and His ways are not ours. What men think is slow, to Him he thinks is normal. The timing [if His Timing] then is normal.
Yet men think: What is wrong with you Noah? Why do you not have more done?
Noah would then answer the people standing by watching him daily work, many laughing at him, saying “You’re stupid in the first place Noah, for even thinking of building such a boat… and in this desert!”
I am waiting upon God to supply all my needs and even the strength to build this Ark. And… Hey you, why do you not come up and help me?
And….
Who will give me the funds to build and live while building this huge boat, in this dry desert?
I fully believe what Noah heard was people laughing and making fun of him. Not only laughing! I fully believe he heard them judging him, because he was in need of them giving funds to help!
Oh you stupid Preacher! Why should I support you? Go make your own money!
* * * * * * *
I write this out of experience, for I too am a Noah, building.
Please pray and obey God and do more than laugh or judge, but help me build…
Perhaps you will be in The Ark when the day of judgment comes, who knows? If you help, it makes clear understanding on why you would. But if you are laughing, you may drown or burn to death in the coming fire.
But……
God again did not mention all this in The Bible.
God left it open. I believe God will speak to His People and put into them a willing heart to give and help.
But, if he doesn’t God will enable me to build all and in time for His coming Fire.
God could bypass all of us and send Angels to help!
Also God could tell me how men built the great pyramid without modern tools! Or, God could give me the great knowledge of how to move things around by faith.
I want to thank all you who have stood with me and many have given… God bless you for you have helped me. God will never forget your labor of love!
I thank you all, I want you to know, I am still building in the desert and pressing on, even if it looks impossible! I know and believe God that he will help me do it, for he keeps his promises always!
