Naming Your Children is Important!
Family planning is God’s way of honoring him; watch what you name your children, because they just maybe connected to the wrong bloodline.
Molek was God of the ammonites, and God said,
“You shall not have intercourse with your neighbor’s wife, to be defiled with her. You shall not give any of your offspring to offer them to Molech, nor shall you profane the name of your God; I AM the LORD. ‘You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination,” (Leviticus 18: 20-22).
The LORD dealt with me this afternoon, that many times we as men and women of God give our children names without a thought as to who is connected to that particular bloodline.
But as I was reading about Sodom and Gomorrah, the LORD had me to zoom in and to see how that Lot and his daughters came out of Sodom and they had lost much such as their husbands and their mother.
Because, the angels said, “Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were to marry his daughters, and said, ‘Up, get out of this place, for the LORD will destroy the city.'”
But he appeared to his sons-in-law to be jesting. (joking; they did not take him seriously) When morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Up, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away in the punishment of the city,” (Genesis 19:1-15).
However, Lot and his daughters made it out, but the mother and the sons-in-laws did not and as we know, his two daughters the eldest and the youngest took it upon themselves to get the father drunk and to lay with him committing incest to continue their father’s seed on throughout generations.
Instead of waiting upon the LORD they trusted in their own wicked souls.
The enemy knows even though we obey God part of the way when we have not been fully delivered and this is why the daughters thought up such a wicked plot to continue and to raise up Sodom and Gomorrah.
After continuing on with this plot, they both became pregnant and it seemed that because it was the oldest daughter’s idea God, dealt with her more severely than he did the youngest daughter, who also got pregnant by her father.
You see, after the oldest daughter had her child she named him מוֹאָב, Moab, but the youngest named her son; בֶּן־עַמִּי, Ben-ammi who was the same of the father of the children of Ammon until this day. This would be the same Moab that would come down generations of the Moabites.
Not, knowing the consequences of her wickedness her children would be cursed and come from a wicked generation.
The LORD spoke to the Children of Israel and warned them that both the Ammonites or the Moabites shall NOT be allowed to enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to their tenth generation shall they not be allowed to enter forever because those where the nations that did not treat you with hospitality on your travels of of Egypt.
And, he said on top of all that they are the same ones that hired Baalam son of Beor from Pethor in Mesopotamia to curse you, (Deuteronomy 23:3-6)
These two daughters, like many of the families today, started off wrong when it came to family planning. This sin they committed of incest ruined a whole generation and bloodline.
Not only did it affect the oldest and youngest daughters but their children as well. And do you not know that Orpah and Ruth was also daughter’s of the Moabites tribe and they both were daughter-in-laws of Naomi?
Yes! However Orpah chose to leave Naomi, Ruth behind after the death of her husband, but Ruth continued to follow Naomi the descendants of David! And, although Orpah did pay homage to Naomi during the death of her sons, she went back to her homeland and she refused to go on to Bethlehem and not only did she go back to that heritage but according to history she also came from the bloodline of the Philistines of four.
Orpah is identified with Harafa, the mother of the four Philistine giants, one of whom was Goliath who David had slew and killed during King Saul’s rule. And, not only that but the name Orpah came from fawn which means neck, stiffed neck because she chose to go back to a heritage of evil and sin; instead of following Naomi, who was married to Boaz in the blood line of King David.
The LORD is speaking and He is saying that many times we as people of God need to be more watchful and prayerful of the decisions that we make when it comes to family planning and naming our children, because many times we can bring generational curses upon our family for years to come, that we don’t necessarily have to bring.
You see, the name עָרְפָּה, Orpah also comes from her mother Harafa which means threshing, “the threshing of many men!” (Wikipedia, (Babylonian Talmud, Sotah ) Which shows that these men did not respect women.
Many folks are giving their children names and you have no idea what these biblical names are connected to and how they will affect your children years to come.
Abraham knew what he would name Isaac years before he was born the LORD revealed it to him, (Genesis 48:16). The name Isaac means he laughs, but what does your child’s name stand for?
All through history the names that God chose for his people stood for something. I am sure that many of you would think that since Orpah is a famous person her name should be a powerful name, but according to the biblical history it means a fawn-neck, someone who went part of the way with God and turned back to a world of sin and evil!
The people of God never raises up what God has destroyed; Sodom and Gomorrah should have been destroyed, but Lot’s daughters raised it up again!
