My Personal Testimony ❤️
When Saul of Tarsus met Jesus on the road to Damascus, he was set to destroy the church of Christ, yet, he suddenly became blinded by the light of Christ who appeared before him with a question — “Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou Me?”
Saul was taken to a place where for three days, he neither ate nor could see.
Imagine truly finding that Jesus is real and then spending that next few days in darkness. What turmoil, angst, fear of God must have plagued him and still not knowing if he was ever going to see again.
Was he destined to a place of darkness, because he recognised who he was and what he’d done?
I believe it was in this dark place, that The LORD showed Saul what he also went through yet, for Saul a much lesser proportion!
I believe something died in Saul in those three days, when he saw Christ’s light, he came face to face with his own murderess heart!
Saul then became a new creation in those three days and Paul was ‘rebirthed,’ for he was given a new name.
This is the meaning of “you must be born again”. It is a change that cannot be denied and for some it is instant revelation, for some it is over time yet even so, it changes everything and every way we see life and who we are!
Jesus allowed Saul to face a smallest part of what he did for mankind. Jesus went to hell and came back to the world as a testimony and then ascended to be with The Father — to be Glorified!
A personal revelation of those three days became clear to me in March 2012.
I had a sudden conversion. It took 7 words as I awoke to be deeply troubled of where I was headed! I never read The Bible, yet I somehow knew those words were biblical.
I spent an equivalent of Saul’s distress in that dark place and yet, I can understand that Saul, just as I, saw a new hope, a new wonder and a new awareness of a need to be saved!
It was that moment when those scales fell from his eyes that he knew he was loved, redeemed and a new chapter had begun in his life, one of the redemptive journey to joy, new found love and learning of who and who’s he was and who he belonged to.
Jesus is real and he loves us!
Paul lived only for Jesus love and Jesus desires over him.
Many think it’s slavery to live for Christ, yet the slavery of striving in this world leaves when we know Christ’s love, protection and joy!
We become as children again.
The Holy Spirit is our companion as Jesus promised him to us in John 16:7,
“But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send Him to you.”
My testimony is that I had a road to Damascus experience and within a week of turmoil from hearing God’s voice, I was convicted and have spent my 8 year journey in a richness of joy and hope, even in adversity.
I pray my testimony encourages just one person to want an encounter with Jesus, daddy God our Father and Holy Spirit, our Comforter and friend to say, “Here I am…. help me know you LORD!”
