Martyrs for the Gospel
Defenders of the Gospel Are Willing to Lay It All Down for the Gospel of Christ!
In this season, I believe that God is drawing a plumb-line between the righteous and the wicked in this season!
And, not only is a line being drawn, but a birthing is taking place as the Kingdom of God is being multiplied with those who are called to be faithful; even unto death!
You see, the disciples had come into a point that their daily administration needed help in servicing the people and as a result, they found a few good men and laid their hands on them! Men of good report, faith and who had the power and the gift of the Holy Ghost!
No, they did not just choose any old body, but these men where men of good report and they had been proven by fire!
(How is it that many are choosing those who have never received the Holy Ghost or have never been proven in this season? I know Jesus choose one who was a devil, but Jesus knew he was a devil and he also replaced him with another!)
One being Stephen! However, Stephen found himself in the middle of a conflict between the Jews who still embraced the Jewish culture and those who had turned more toward the Greeks in their language and culture. Just as we all do whenever God begins to anoint and to raise us up to do a work for him!
You can tell when God begins to anoint and to birth many into either a gift or an office to do a work for him, for the enemy will get busy bringing accusations, discord, backbiting and he will do all he can to even murder you and or your character!
If he cannot stop you from teaching and or preaching the gospel he will bring a murdering spirit to try to assassinate you by using others to lie on you personally! Just as he did Stephen!
You see, Stephen was chosen to combat the ever-increasing problems that were rising by both the disciples and God Who lead them to impart and to lay hands upon Stephen in competition of the work!
Stephen was used by God so powerful that the men he spoke to became so angry with him that they wanted to physically kill him! The word of God was so powerful and anointed by the mouth of Stephen that the men could not shake it off the words that were anointed by his mouth!
It cut them to the very marrow of their bone and completely to their hearts! And, after not being able to find a winnable argument for their erroneous religion, the unbelievers decided to falsely accuse Stephen, labeling him as blasphemer and having him arrested for a crime he did not commit (Acts 6:11).
For, in this season, I hear God saying that He is raising up some bold, tenacious warriors who will not compromise His Word and they will stand boldly and flat footed to teach and to preach the gospel as it is given from His mouth (a sharp two edged sword) and they will not fear what man shall do unto them!
Come on somebody! For, in this season God is saying that many have left their posts of duty to make a covenant with Hell, with Baal!
The LORD is revealing that many who started out as warriors have become wimps, and have allowed the spirit of Baal to entice them into living for him; hook bate and sinker!
They are no longer defenders of the gospel, but are more concerned with pleasing man, than they are pleasing God!
You see, Stephen was not concerned about his earthly existence, determining instead to stand firmly on the side of Jesus Christ, no matter the consequences.
He never had a second thought about whether or not he should cross the line of holiness, but his entire focus was on his mission and his assignment to please Christ!
The disciples may have laid their hands on Stephen to do a work, but it was not by human choosing, but by the divine power of the Holy Ghost!
For, I hear God saying there are far too many in the Kingdom who went but they were not sent and/ or ordained by God!
This was not the case with Stephen, a man full of faith, power and the Holy Ghost! The proof was in the pudding.
God inspired him to speak boldly, rightly accusing Israel of their failure to recognize Jesus, their Messiah, rejecting and murdering Him, as they had murdered Zechariah and other prophets and faithful men throughout their generations.
Stephen’s speech was an judgment against Israel and their failure as the chosen people of God who had been given the law, the holy things, and the promise of the Messiah.
Naturally, these accusations, though true, were not well received by the Jews.
Come on somebody, get ready, for many who are refusing to come out of dead works and religion, will almost certainly want to stone you and even murder you, for the wisdom and power that God is about to cause your mouth to speak in this season!
Throughout his speech, Stephen repeatedly reminded them of their continual rebellion and idolatry, in spite of the mighty works of God to which they had been eyewitnesses, thereby accusing them with their own history, which only caused them to reject him more; until they did not want to hear him any more.
For, in this season, I believe that God is saying that every baptized believer should be more than ready to stand up for his or her beliefs in Christ according to the Word of God like Stephen did!
For, we are all called to be a candle whose light is not hidden under a bush!
Stephen’s life, his death, and his faith in Christ, should be an example of how every believer should strive to live: committed to the LORD even in the face of death; faithful to teach and to preach the gospel boldly; knowledgeable of God’s truth; and willing to be used by God for His plan and to fulfill your destiny and your purpose in Him.
Seven Chosen to Serve
“Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution. 2 Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, “It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables. 3 Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business; 4 but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”
5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch, 6 whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid hands on them.
7 Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.
Stephen Accused of Blasphemy
8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people. 9 Then there arose some from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia), disputing with Stephen. 10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. 11 Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.” 12 And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes; and they came upon him, seized him, and brought him to the council. 13 They also set up false witnesses who said, “This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law; 14 for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses delivered to us.” 15 And all who sat in the council, looking steadfastly at him, saw his face as the face of an angel,” Acts 6:1-15 NKJV.
